Measuring depth

Question for everyone: how do you measure depth of a bra? While wearing it or not? I’ve done both and they’re different results, so I’m not sure which method to use :/

  • you know, this is a great question. I've changed my methods from how I started out initially measuring.

So, with the stretchy cups, I try to stretch them over my knee and take the cup measurement that way, as that would be how I'm wearing the bra anyways.

however, with some of the molded cups (like with Comexim, for example) it has a section of its cups that goes a little bit *wider* and I'm not sure if I should start my measurement there, that would be the biggest measurement, or from the actual side of the cup.

I'm not sure how to comment on other brands/styles, b/c those are the only molded cups that I wear a.t.m. (well, Comexims are 3-part cups sewn together, but they have padded...so not technically a 1-piece molded cup)

so, I kind of see - measuring the comexim cup - you could do it two different ways - if that makes sense. And I'm not sure if I've measured them consistently one way or the other even (if that makes sense). lol.

  • Thanks BraOdyssey
I do the same with unlined bras although sometimes I can’t get my knee to fit properly in the cup lol like if the cup is bigger than my knee.
With the comexim padded half cups, the measurement wearing it is like 1” larger than if I measure it as is. Maybe I’m overthinking the physics of bra measuring lol
