Plunge bras that are more like balconettes!?
I was just going through a rabbit hole on plunge bras in the comments on my own review: https://www.bratabase.com/bra/dns7m/ and then thought this topic should be it's own post.
So I am searching for bras with low gores because I have close - set breasts. I am in the GG-H size range. I looked at many plunge styles from different popular brands and would always check for pictures & measurements on here. I noticed that so many bras have gore heights that in my opinion make the bra more of a balconnette than a plunge. I can barely find bras that have a low enough gore in my size range. I like 6cm or below. Many bras in my size have 7-9cm gore.
I checked out so many so called plunge bras, like Panache Ana, many freya styles, Elomi or Sculptresse plunges, some from CK and the gores were all quite tall. Not like the balconettes but still taller than I would expect from plunge styles.
I assume the companies know that the customers want plunge bras, but they likely not fit with too low gores in the larger size ranges (overspill) so they make the gores taller but still sell them as "plunge style".
I did those 2 random comparisons: (not even the same sizes but I had to pick those that had the measurements) :

Freya being way taller in even smaller sizes?!
These were only the UK brands, but apparently new Ewa Michalak PL bras have taller gores than older styles, and Comexim Plunges are also basically balconettes in larger cups.
I understand that too low plunges might not work for everyone but like offer one or two for those that want to buy them? Pls...
Actual plunges Cleo Dakota and Cleo Koko are both discontinued.

Have you checked out Elomi Namrah? I have fairly close set breasts but am functionally FOB with a lot of immediate projection. The freya viva side support was tolerable/fit cup wise one size down which was really surprising to say the least bc freya seems to never work for me otherwise. Frequently run into issues with most plunge/balconette type bras coming up too high, even found the Matilda aggravating. The band on it does seem to run really snug so I’d size up but the cups seem to be TTS for me, so you might have better luck going up one size since youre FOT. They were also sturdy enough to where I also wasn’t spilling out into the center.
The Namrah was the first bra (36K) that I’ve tried on that actually fit like a plunge and not a regular full cup bra. I’ll see if I can upload photos.
I notice that about plunges too. Only the curvy Kate plunges are low enough for me, but their underwires are too wide. comexim and freya plunges seem more like balconettes to me due to their high gore.
