Need help for a blog post

(edit : I am thinking and re-thinking, this adventure may be edited soon, and already has been edited a lot)

Hi !

I have a bra blog in french. I am writting a few posts about how to reconnize your breast shape, and how knowing it can help you choosing the bra that have te most chances to works with you. The french speaking world of internet really need some good bra advice, so I try to do my best.

I have a few question for everybody who have found what they need in bras :

- What size(s) do you wear ?
-Are you firm, semi firm-soft or soft ? what bra someone with similar size and firmness as you may try first ? what bra should they avoid ?
- are you full on bottom, full on top, full on the midlle, on the side, not full at all, even ? what bra someone with similar size and fullness as you should try first ? what bra should they avoid ?
- do you have tall, short, wide and/or narrow root (comparing to the majority of bras in your size range) ? what bra would you propose first to someone with similar root and size range as you ? Which one sould they avoid ?
- do you have a long/short torso ? are you high on chest or low on chest ? Do you have narrow or wide frame and shoulder ? which bra works for your torso's particularities ?

Thanks for helping me !

ps : I think I will also need photos of differents women (who have already discover they shape and size) in futur, so be prepared, it is possible I will post and new adventure who ask you if you want to participe...

  • For my size range at least, my breasts are quite firm. Sizing is a bit weird for me because of limited options, but I'd think my ideal size is somewhere around a 28L (maybe 28KK if the wire width and cup depth was a bit more compatible with my breast shape). They're not self-supporting (I think that would be some kind of miracle at this size), but they're definitely more likely to mash a cup than they are to puddle into a cup. Other notable features of my shape are reasonably even fullness, a narrow and short root and lots of projection.

I've found that I have a lot of trouble with padded bras because of my breast firmness, where unless there's enough depth for my breasts, the cups just end up being squashed and sad at the bottom. Unpadded bras are probably also a bit squashed at the bottom, but they don't crease because they're not structured. I've also found I have more leeway with bras which are cut to be very open on the top, because things can lift out and up. When a bra is too small, sometimes the cutting in isn't obvious from the front because of my firmer breasts, but can only be seen from the sides.

Offerings over a J cup (especially in small band sizes) are all kind of terrible, but I work better in unpadded than padded styles (SM vs S from Ewa Michalak for instance). If we were to submit pictures for your blog, where would we be sending them to? Also, the bras I've tried recently with the best fit have all been agressively altered. Would that be a problem?

Edited to answer some more of your questions: Some of this may have been covered earlier on, but details on my breasts in terms of shape are very narrow, quite short and very projected. I have firm breasts for my size range, and they are very close-set and somewhat high on my chest. I have natural mild symmastia with a small bridge of tissue joining my breasts. My tails of spence are almost vertical and go over my collarbones (I haven't had a lot of experience with sports bras but I have found that this is a bit of a problem with the ones I've tried). My shoulders are narrow and slope, and my ribcage is quite straight (the taper of your ribcage can definitely affect band fit). My fullness is roughly even and my breasts are quite full all over, but slightly fuller in the top central quadrant than anywhere else.

I haven't had a bra since I was about a 28H which I'd actually consider to be a good fit (then again, I think very few people who are J+ get a good fit in bras), but I need deep, open cups, very narrow gores (not a short gore because I'm too full to stay put in a plunge), close-set straps, narrow wires and short cups (or weirdly, tall, closed cups). I perform better in half-cups and full cups than I do in balcony bras, but neither are actually available in my size unless I extensively alter a bra. I do better in unpadded than padded styles because my breasts will just mash the padding to try and take on my own shape.

The best fit I've got would have to be in Ewa Michalak's SM bras, though it's been a comedy of errors trying to figure out which size is closest to correct. Possibly 60KK or 60L, or maybe 55L/LL ( I'm sure Ewa would hate me for even suggesting the tighter band, but with heavy breasts and my very untapered ribcage, I need a lot of tension to hold everything in place). These aren't perfect, but by basic fit criteria, they're closest to working.

  • Thanks for your response ! It is really helpful, as I don't know a lot of bra-stuff in your size range ! I hope I will have other responses...

About photos, ... I was just going on bratabase to delete this part of my message... I was re-thinking about it, maybe it is not the best idea, because in a photo, you can see all the shape of someone, with all individuals particularities (and fit issues that go with it), not just one point about firm/soft... It can be disturbing for someone who know nothing about bras ?
I think I just will do drawings.

But I like the idea of showing various breasts sizes and shapes in bras, because a woman who is lost can recognise someone who look like her in some points, and have a first idea of what size and bra cut can work for her...
Imagine I write differents posts, all explained with drawings, about :
    - firmness,
    - full on bottom/top,
    - tall/short/wide/narrow roots, + high on chest and low on chest
    - narrow/wide/long/short ribcage and shoulder
    - shallow/projected breasts
I can write a last post, in which I show photos of women in bras who have different combinaisons of all thoses particularities, (and you can read what they say about themselves, and click a link to all the didactic post related) ?

    What do you think ?

edit : I have edited a lot my adventure, now, I ask more questions, but don't look for photos right now anymore.
