Clothes and bras

So I was browsing Burda Styles website the other day and stumbled over their sizing charts. You might remember that I've complained about having "short" shoulders before - I routinely need about 1.5-2 inches taken out at the shoulder seam to have the bust point hit correctly. Burda actually lists the bust point measurement on their size charts (yay!) and I noticed that even for the petites my bust point is way higher than allowed for. The bust point is the measurement from the neck to the full bust/apex. Based on size charts for tops I'd need an 8P for bust and a 2P/4P for waist. For these sizes the bust point is 27 cm (8P), 25 cm (4P), or 24 cm (2P). In my Ewa Michalek CH my bust point is 20 cm and in my Curvy Kate Thrill Me it's 18 cm. No wonder I have problems!

  • I have the exact same problem. Do you have a short upper body, or are you high set in general? My bust point is very close to the same height as armholes start at the bottom, if not above in certain bras... That is definitly causing pattern problems. :P Or, rather as I do my own, they look quite a bit different than "normal"... :P

  • My bust point is about the same as the top of my armpit, maybe a fingers-width below. My front waist length (neck to waist over bust) is about 42 cm which is what Burda allots for a petite size. Basically, I need to shift the extra on top to below the bust point. That doesn't even get to the fact that I need a size 12P to fit my hips.
