Question about American brands
What American brand (aka sold at Kohls, Walmart, Target, etc.) offer the narrowest wires and deepest cups? I am currently jobless with a new baby, and I can't afford to buy the European brands until I find one that fits me. So I was thinking I'd just buy one locally and put my sewing machine to work shortening the band to get it to fit me. Since I recently went down 2 cup sizes after failing at breastfeeding...again ... I thought it might be easier to find a DD or DDD that could be altered to fit like a 32FF-ish.
The only brand I can't/won't consider is Wacoal--they're shape and mine are as incompatible as onions and chocolate. I prefer J-shaped wires, strap placement that would fit a well endowed 8 year old, and military grade side support.

I'm really sorry to hear about the breastfeeding...I failed with my first have no idea how I've gotten this far with my second...
As for your question, I really wish I could help. If you get desperate, do be sure to try and find some extremely popular models that have old colors (like have been around a few years) on eBay...(I don't know how much you can afford to spend, but you can find bras for around $25 or maybe even less)
If you have someone to watch the baby, you could just go to one of those stores or somewhere like Ross and try them on.
Nordstrom would be a great place to try on lots of different styles. Then you can go on Ebay to look for the ones you liked best. I think I've heard Target bras aren't too bad? I have done the shortening the band thing a bunch of times, and really like how it turns out. Just make sure you do a tight zig-zag on the top and bottom (just like is already there where the hooks attach to the band) and a little wider zig-zag for the middle of the band so you get stretch and strength.
