Ok, I have some big feelings about this. Here's a repost of what I put on reddit about it earlier tonight.
First of all, kudos to this young girl for taking on the challenge of creating a new product line. It takes a lot of work and perseverance, and for that I think she should be commended. I have seen plenty of basic bralets and plenty of luxury bralets, but this is the first time I have seen this sort of inbetween type of bralet.
But I have to say that as a mother, and just generally as a person who wears bras, I think that the marketing is really offensive. Lace, sheer fabrics and molded cups are not intrinsically sexy. They are a personal choice, not a moral one. People who wear bras might choose a sheer cup to deal with sweating (me!!) or a molded cup to hide their developing breasts or nipples (extremely common in the demographic this brand is targeting).
And let's just get something else out there. The top end that they are marketing to is 15 years old. By age 15, 26% of the female population has had intercourse. No matter where our preferences lie as parents, at some point along the spectrum our children do turn into people that sometimes make sexual choices and it rarely is a magic switch that flips on their 18th birthday. Being a human being, and developing as one, is definitely not a moral failing.

.
And then, cause I have even more big feels, I added this.
Not only do I disagree about the sheer and lacy automatically equals sexy, when I look at girls bra sections online for Target and Nordstrom, I don't see any bras that match this description. I'm starting to wonder if this is just some pre-slut-shaming in disguise.

End of copy. Like most good things, parenting is hard and sucks sometimes. But good grief, we need to be really careful what kind of our own contextual crap we are putting out there, especially when it comes to sensitive topics. I guess this one touched a nerve!
