Moulded vs. Half Cups - all or nothing?

I'm pretty new to the *correct bra size club* and I've been fortunate enough (and obsessed enough) to acquire quite a few bras over the past few months. So far I've determined that Freya half cups really fit my breast shape quite well. I think that I have wide set, soft tissue breasts, with about medium projection. I thought that I was full on top but now I'm not really sure. One thing that I've noticed along this journey is that although half cups fit amazingly, moulded cups just don't fit me well, AT ALL! Most of the ones that I have tried out are too big in the cup, seem to fit awkwardly, or just give me a really awful, unlifted/flat shape. Most of what I have tried out were the moulded bras under "my recommendations," such as the 36FF - Panache » Porcelain Viva (6071) and the 38FF - Fantasie » Rebecca Spacer Moulded Bra (2024). I also tried on a few others before I started using this site, such as the Deco and a moulded Cleo (not 100% sure which one this was).

So, have any other Bratabasers found that they are either all or nothing in certain categories of bras? Like, if our chests are built *perfectly* for unlined/half cups, does that mean that we are doomed to never find a moulded cup that gives us any shape?

Hopefully this isn't a blatantly obvious question that I'm asking here! Either way, I wanted to say that this is a fantastic site, and I feel like every day I learn something new and interesting that helps on my journey to discovering my perfect bras :)

  • You say you have soft tissue. I wonder if that may have something to do with your fit issues.

  • good point! I can definitely see that being the case, because half cups probably encapsulate and hold onto my breasts better than the roomier moulded cups. that may also be why it seems like the cups are always too big. thank you for the feedback!
