I went to London this week, I was there between the 23rd and 27th of June. I had a lovely time and I went to two Bravissimo stores. I was fitted at Covent Garden and later went to the one in Margaret street (it had a lot bigger selection and stock). The fitting was really pleasant and I didn't end up in a different starting size than I had expected, ie, I'm quite on point :) I didn't bring any bras home with me.

Anyway, I did find two bras that technically fit me, and the Rebecca bra would've fit me if I took it home and sewed the straps shorter (half-strap style). The Freya Deco in beige fit me really well in 30E, I'm usually around a 30F (or 28FF) these days and she informed me that the Deco runs large on some people. Why didn't I bring it home with me? Well... I'm a fan of bras that feels like they're holding your breasts in closer to your chest and the deco didn't do that. It just lifts from underneath and sure, it looks supportive (and it is), but I prefer a "to my chest" feel. I also didn't like how round and "up" my breasts looked. It's just not for me, I don't think it's very flattering on me and my small build. The other bra that technically fit me was the Bravissimo Flutter Me Bra (LN236), I didn't fancy the shape though. Not the pointiest of pointy bras but it was too pointy for me to feel confident in and wear. For some odd reason it fit me better in the cups in 30F than the 28FF, although the band was better for me in the smaller band size.

I did try the Alana bra and it was a no-go. It fit nicely in the underwires and everything, except that it cut in on top. A bigger size didn't solve it at all, it just added too-wide underwires to the equation. Next up to try was the Lilliana bra in blue (not sure about the color name, but it's not the one that's in between purple and blue, it's a solid blue almost like turquoise) and although the underwires were severely too wide for me, I'm surprised by how comfortable it was! I wasn't even bothered by the wide underwires at the time of trying it, and I sometimes am even when it's the right underwire size and shape, so that really says something about the comfort this bra provides. Do any of you know whether or not they're re-designing the Lilliana style in terms of underwire width? It provided such a lovely and subtle shape, it's truly the only bra I've ever worn that I feel like I'm forgetting I'm wearing it! I didn't buy it because I was thinking fit qualms might arise later upon wearing it for hours...

Do you know if Tutti Rouge bras are this comfy across the whole range? I'm truly impressed by the fabric feel and stitching, everything really. Are the underwires this wide across the whole range? Any news on changing that?

  • I'm kind of in awe at your self-discipline. You visited two Bravissimos, found bras that fit, and didn't buy any! Amazing.

  • Thank you! I just found that it would be stupid for me to buy anything that I didn't feel 100% content with, despite good fit. I know I'm not comfortable with über-uplift and mega-cleavage and having perfectly ball-round breasts. I also know that I would feel self-conscious about wearing a pointy bra. I would've bought the Rebecca despite the long straps if I would be happy with it otherwise, but somehow I found it quite unsupportive. The fact that most people have to size down a cup really says something about this bra... Normally when that's necessary it is because the cups are not true to size, but with this one it is because they just stretch a whole lot and without a cup small enough to stretch it out, the cups basically do nothing for support.
