Ready to throw out my measuring tape.

A few years ago, I went to a Nordstrom and the woman put me in a 30C and it seemed like she was right. It didn't take me too long to realize that I was better off in a 28 band so I started wearing 28Ds and forgot about bra sizing for a few years. When I started popping out of them I finally admitted I needed to find my size again and measured myself as a 28DD, which I thought made sense. I tried one on and it was way too small - I had just learned about scooping and swooping so that made a big difference. I felt like Nordstrom put me in a 30 to sell them to me so I did an over the phone fitting with Bare Necessities. After hearing how the 28DD fit she told me to order 28Fs and 28FFs. I was shocked but followed her advice. After over an hour on the phone (and emailing pictures of how I fit in 4 bras) she concluded that I am between 28F - 28FF but she thought closer to the FF, although of the bras I've tried on so far I've only kept two 28Fs. She also said to be wary of freya due to my frame.

For some reason, I can't get over the measurement thing and I keep doubting my new size. If I measure my bust, it's between 32 - 33 inches which would be a D-DD. If I bend over I get another inch or two, but not the 35 that is supposed to be a 28F bust measurement... And I can't even get it while wearing a 28F bra that seems to fit really well. But if I put on my old 28Ds and swoop & scoop my nipples pop out and it looks way too small.

Does anyone know why or how this happens?

  • Sounds like a shape thing. Women with firmer breasts, fuller on top breasts, very full breasts and other sort of shapes tend to require a size higher than measurements would indicate. Don't throw out your measuring tape though! It's really useful for figuring out bands and your bra stuff.

Just be careful not to scoop non-breast tissue into your bra. I was artificially inflating my own size by doing that, and it was super uncomfortable, let me tell you.

  • Jillsas ,I might be scooping a bit of non-breast tissue in,as I don't have a defined edge at all,but I find it super uncomfy if I don't! lol.I guess the key thing is how it makes you feel.
