I just ordered a Delphine bra and panty set made by Parfait/Affinitas, which of course had each piece listed separately (thankfully the seller will combine them so that the free shipping on the bra will apply to the panty!)...I don't like buying international because the shipping to the U.S. is astronomical plus takes forever and a day for a package to arrive! But after searching through to see if there was another listing on the panty with a lower price, the MFGRP (manufacturers-retail-price) of $28 stood out on all the pages. Why on earth does such a simple to make garment like a hipster/bikini panty, using (usually) very little fabric and definitely doesn't require a lot of expertise to construct on a sewing assembly line command the price of $28? Why am I grumbling when I didn't pay that much and the bra didn't cost as much as the $52 MFGRP either? Mainly because I'm looking to add a few matching sets to my drawer-o-bra/lingerie-drobe and one of the reasons I haven't done so before - it's very cost-prohibitive - which keeps popping into my thoughts. It's making it hard to concentrate on bra browsing and bra lust!

They charge us more because they can? I've given up on matching knickers - I just buy cheap cotton undies from big chain stores. If I'm lucky, there's a cute pattern or a close enough colour to match a bra. More comfortable, too. And they come with the lovely feeling of not feeling ripped off for having paid $28 for a couple of pieces of fabric stitched together.
While in rant/disappointed mode, I recently got a bra off Ebay, but didn't check the shipping cost and ended up paying a lot more than what I would have done, had I only inspected the listings a little closer. It was still cheaper than the same bra on Figleaves, Brastop etc., so it wasn't a total loss. It turned out to be the wrong size, too, and sending it back isn't really an option as the seller won't refund the cost of shipping. Sigh...
Those sneaky lingerie mfgs....bastards!
I usually do the same with finding underwear at stores like Target or even Walmart, and match the color as much as I can or at least match it to whatever color I'm wearing on the lower half of me. I don't know why, but matchy-match sets sounded like a wonderful idea...until I thought about the likelihood that each set would cost as much or more than what I paid for the one that is on it's way. :P
