Fake Camis
Anyone have any thoughts about or experience with mock camis? You know, the cleavage cover things that snap onto your bra straps? Some different ones are: CamiSecret, Cleava, "Perfect Cami", and "Essential Cami".
I'm pretty modest and don't like to show cleavage, but most of my dresses (and many t-shirts) have low cut necklines. I've tried CamiSecret, and in theory the idea is really good....but in my correctly fitting 30G Ewa bras, the CamiSecret ends up sort of caving in between my boobs. (Because of the empty space between the cups, right in front of the bra's center gore.) This isn't good when in a public place because you can't just reach up and adjust things in front of everyone!
I'm trying to come up with a solution that is similar to CamiSecret, but better. I have a ton of tank tops with higher necks that I often layer under my low-cut t-shirts, but it's not really practical to wear a cotton tank top under a more dressy dress.
I'm curious about the Cleava, but I feel like the way it snaps underneath the bra would cause it to have the same problem of "caving in". The "Perfect Cami" design actually looks really good, but I don't think it would go up high enough in the front for me. (My cleavage goes rather high on my front, grrr!)
I guess I'm just rambling, but I'm really wondering if anyone here has any experience with these fake cami things? My mother is considering trying to make some for both herself and I, but I'm not sure exactly what style.

I believe someone recently mentioned a model that they were happy with (it was in the comments on an adventure entitled "what do you actually wear with these bras" or something along those lines). I personally have only tried one such product and it was a dead loss... it rode up, was always crooked etc. I also dislike wearing a full cami as I find fashion writers' cheery assumption that camis can be easily matched to shirts/dresses in color, weight and texture to be seriously misguided. Maybe I'm picky but to my eye it rarely looks right--at the moment I have only one cami/top combo in by wardrobe that really looks good and "supposed to be that way" if you get my meaning. It's a black wrap front style top that I wear with a bright high-necked camisole. Generally the only neckline that I think camis really look good under are V-necks.
I have a short torso so in addition to my ample chest I find that many garments show more of my chest than the designer actually intended (since to fit my chest I will usually end up buying a size that was intended for a woman whose torso was a good 4-6 inches taller than mine). My solution with sleeveless dresses/tops is just to take them it at the shoulder thus reducing both torso length and depth of the neckline. However, this is obviously not as easy with long sleeves, so I usually just scrupulously avoid low necklines as I know they will be significantly more revealing on me than on someone else!
I have been on the cami hunt for years. Layering with tanks is bulky and uncomfortable. I finally found a solution at Walmart. They are Fruit of the Loom sports bras (I use that term loosely). The style number is FT435. It's kind of a joke that they are even marketed as sports bras, but for cleavage coverage I found them to be great. The material is similar to that of the genie bra so they look small but are super stretchy. They come in sizes S, M, L,1X,2X. I got the 1X. I wear a 34H UK and have a 33 inch underbust. Normally a 1x would just be too loose around the underbust but this material has great elasticity that it comfortably conforms to my body. They come in a 3 pack for $12 and they had two different color packs at the store I went to. I got the black, white, gray pack. It's worth a shot because they are so affordable and you can try them on in store. What I love about them is they don't squeeze my bust and they don't drastically change my profile. Here is the link. If it doesn't work you can Google the style number.
