About 5 or 6 months ago I started on the hunt to find a bra that ACTUALLY FITS !! This turned out to be a lot more difficult that I thought it would be and definitely harder than it SHOULD be.

My measurements (in inches) are 31.5 for over bust, and 26 for under-bust. (And if it matters at all my hip measurement is 33.5 and waist is 26.5 I weigh between 90-98 lbs but it's not often that my weight reaches any higher than 95 lbs. My pant size is between a 1 and 3 so I wear both depending on what brand fits better, and I fit into the occasional 0, I am 5'2 with a shorter torso, my breasts are fuller at the bottom and outer sides, with little fullness in between and at the top)

I started with The Little Bra Company, I've always been petite and have always been self conscious of my breast size feeling like they are incredibly small. So in that that thinking I was very exciting to find The Little Bra company and was almost for sure I'd find a well fitting bra. At that time I was wearing mostly 34 B, and the occasional 32 B, or 32 Also naturally I started with a 28 B as the first bra I purchased, and the band fit wonderfully, but the cup was not even large enough to reach the upper half of my nipples, so I tried a 30 C and that was not much better.

The next step in my search was to look on the web and find some measurement sites online so I used those, which only confused me more. I got a different measurement for every site, and according to those I'm a 26 F, 28EEE, 30 DD, 30 A, 32 AA, 34 B. I know about sister sizes and all of that, but when you are told your bra size is an A, B, D, E, or F that's nothing but the opposite of helpful.

My search continued bra site, after bra site, purchase and return, purchase and return, over and over.

Finally, I bought three bras I felt I could be happy with on Bare Necessities (even after fitting with a fitting consultant that there is absolutely no way a 30 A was going to fit me when a 30 C didn't work) I settle for a beautiful red Natori Feathers Contour Plunge bra in a size 28 D, a sleek and simple black Calvin Klein: Seductive Comfort Customized Lift Push-Up bra in a size 30 D, and a plain nude Le Mystère: Tisha Seamless T-Shirt Bra in a size 30 D. At the time that I purchased these bras and felt comfortable enough after trying them on that I decided NOT to return I was ecstatic and thrilled that my search was finally over, I could live in peace for a while !!

BUT, now almost 4 months later and I'm questioning the fit all over again. The problems I had with the bras at the time I decided to keep them are just all to apparent now. I think they were just the closest to a good fit I'd found so I settled because of the rush of what a great feeling that was...
Let me explain my reasons for wondering if I should attempt the good-bra-fit-search again:
The @Natori although beautiful works well for now, because the band is perfect but if I grow even a millimeter bigger my nipples are going to be busting out the sides of the cups and sometimes I have a little bit of spillage at the outersides, the @Calvin Klein looks great in a shirt and is surprisingly comfortable, however the band has much more stretch than I'd like especially because a 30 band is already a bit looser than I'd prefer, I have very slight spillage at the sides with this bra sometimes too, but I think that may be due to the larger band and the @Le Mystère gives great support, and the band is perfect, but the cups just seem slightlyy too small; it's not a push-up at all, and my breasts have the least amount of fullness at top yet, the top of the cups seem to dig into the top of my boobs just a tad too much and sometimes that indent will show in t-shirts which is a shame because the bra gives really good shape and the seams don't show in a t-shirt.

I'm just beginning to feel frustrated all over again.

I'm wondering now if I need to try out a 28 DD, 28 E or a 30 DD ? Or am I as close as it is going to get ? Any suggestions ?

  • Please don't hate me for saying this, I know it was hard work typing out the whole explanation... but I think a fitting request would work a lot better for getting feedback. Most people including me will have more helpful insights if we can actually see the issues and check the objective measurements (yours and the bras') as opposed to reading a description.

  • Ah, shortgirlproblems. I'm there with you. I'm 4'10", short torso as well (though more *ahem* Kardashianly proportioned in the lower half) and a similar chest measurement. My first boutique bra was a 32C little bra company bra that didn't fit me either! Us shorties have the problems of too long straps and trying to figure out where the bra sits correctly without digging into our ribcage or underarms, too. It's a good time.

These bratabase ladies know their stuff though. It's a lot of info, but a fit request will really help you. IMO the most confusing but most helpful thing to figure out is your shape. I thought I was full on the bottom, but I'm actually full on top. My boobs are just a smidge lower than they used to be. :)
