I know she's narrow, but now what?

Still trying to troubleshoot my mother. We are now exchanging the Just Peachy Lace Balconette in a 36D for a 36C. I'm hoping it fits, but my hopes are low. I now think the bra might be - like many bras - too tall, though the wires work very well for her, which confirms the narrow shape. She's a 1/5 shape - FoB - teardrop shaped with no upper fullness. Root does not appear to be particularly short, but she just has really no tissue up top. I thought she was projected, but now I'm wondering if it might be worth it to try a few shallower shapes since the tissue is soft enough that it will conform as long as the bottom of the cup has a bit of depth.

I'm not sure where to go from here if the Just Peachy ends up being too tall. The wires work very well for her, and I thought the stretch lace would conform to the lower amount of fullness, but she just literally has none up top. She's also not going to be willing to spend too much on a bra, so I'm trying to keep it around $30 (and at this stage easily returnable), since she's used to spending less than $10 for ill-fitting 36Bs. (I think she's really around a 34D-DD, but Just Peachy runs small.)

I initially thought Panache Andorra Plunge, but I think the wires will be too wide. I know they're wide in my size. Plus, it doesn't come in any basic colors, so that wouldn't be practical as her everyday solution.

She seems to need a fabric bra with a very, very low cup height. Plunges have been best so far due to having less fabric up top, and she asked about demi bras due to the shorter vertical height, but my concern is a moulded demi bra might be slightly too tall. A lace demi bra with narrow wires? Does such a thing exist in a price range I'll be able to get her to pay a second time?

This is a struggle, but has all been very educational, because it's literally the opposite of my fit problems. I'm just not sure where to go from here if the Just Peachy doesn't work. The only problem with it is that she can't fill out the top. If it came in a plunge, I think it might work really well.

  • How tall of a cup is too tall? Freya Deco runs at 6" in a 30D, some plunges have cups at 5 1/2" tall.

  • I don't have a precise number, but the average half cup is too tall by maybe half an inch. The average balconette is laughable.

I've tried Freya Deco myself (and hated it, much to my disappointment), and the lower projection is not going to work for her, either. It's quite shallow on the bottom, and we've tried a lot of moulded bras with a similar shallowness there that made her feel like the band was way, way too tight. Going away from these shallow moulded cups and into fabric cups seems to give her boobs more leeway on bottom, but we haven't found a bra yet that she can fill at the top that isn't too small everywhere else. Deco is also wider than Just Peachy. Mom's ideal wire width is about 5 inches, (oddly enough, the same as mine in a very different size range) so I think deco will be both too tall and too wide.

If the Just Peachy balconette was a plunge bra, I think it would probably work. I'm running out of ideas. I have half a mind to try a Lepel plunge, but they're probably a bit above her budget (from places I can actually return them), and it would be a pretty shot in the dark sort of tactic to take having only ever tried one of their full cups myself.
