I knew going into this that finding the right kind of bras would be a bit of a journey-- I have shallow/wide root boobs and sometimes choice can be limited. I'm also discovering that it seems like I have a really tall root--my breast tissue comes up very close to my armpit, and unless a bra has tall wings, or maybe even a taller cup, I get weird armpit "wings." I have been searching for bras that have shallower cups, wider/longer underwires, AND tall wings (at least 9.5 cm), but choice is seriously limited. Are there any other ladies out there with these issues? Any bras you can recommend? So far, the ones that have worked best for me are the more "bandeau" types--B.tempt'd Ciao Bella, and Masquerade Antoinette (the newer model). I've tried a couple of Freya longlines, but neither has worked for me (I think the cup/wire is too short? I get boob oozing out the side, and then I can't fill the cup all the way).

  • I have this EXACT problem! I'm shallow with wide AND tall roots. It's been a struggle. I've been posting fit requests to try to find something that fits. Here's what I've tried:

Cleo Lucy & Maddie in 32F, 30G & 28GG/H do not have wide enough wires. There was wire distortion going on, especially with the Cleo Lucy.

Freya Patsy 30F/FF/G & 32F, but it was too open at the top. They are too projected, along with Freya Lauren 30G. I fit in the cups without gapping in the Freya Patsy 30FF, but the wires were not wide enough.

Lepel Fiore Padded Plunge in 32F- the shape was way too pointed. I don't remember the wires, but the cups were too big or not the right shape for me.

Panache Harmony in 32F - it was too FOT and left lots of gaping on top.

Natori Feathers Contour Plunge in 32DDD - band way too loose, cup just fit weird, even though I was told it was a good fit. I didn't like it.

Panache Andorra contour Plunge in 32F - cup too stretchy & lots of gaping on top

Cleo Marcie in 32F & 32FF - too loose on top

Cleo Juna - in 32F & 32FF - gaping on top, wires not wide enough, gore too wide & high

b.tempted cioa bella/Betsey Johnson Eyelet Lace Demi- straps did not go long enough, didn't come in big enough cups

And finally - Freya Marvel 30G, then 30FF. The 30FF has lifted my boobs so it's actually supporting me and it pulls in from the sides. I always thought I was FOB, but that was because the bras were not supporting me in the proper way. I still do not feel as though the wires are wide enough, but they are not high either and are below my side roots so they don't hurt. This is my best fit so far. Here's my fit request: http://www.bratabase.com/troubleshoot/dli3f/

I have ordered a 30G Parfait Charlotte and a 30FF Tutti Rouge Liliana - the Liliana seems the most promising, but it's hard to get ahold of the bra!!! I'm also attempting to get a 30FF Bravissimo Rococo Charm, but don't want to order it from them and have it not fit since the shipping is outrageous from the UK. It's also deeper and not quite as wide as the Liliana, so I'm hesitant that it will fit. I usually want to know that something fits before I order from the UK.

I've done a TON of looking at measurements on here, trying to find the widest wires and the shallowest cups and these are the ones I've come down to. Don't give up!!! Keep trying!

  • To some extent, I have similar issues. I have wide & tall roots which means for me, my breast tissue is spread over a fairly significant area. It goes all the way up to just under my collarbone and extends back under my arms running parallel for 2/3rds of my armpit. This results in a deceptive perception of how much breast tissue I actually have (At least for me, and it has confused some less experienced fitters who don't have the benefit of years gathering knowledge.) and influences bra fitting in so many ways that I'm only now discovering and learning to accommodate. Most of my bras that fit are Panache (Idina balconette, Andorra balconette/full cup, Envy balconette, Jasmine balconette); they have wide wires and sufficient cup depth while still remaining open enough in the top cup to not strangle or constrain the tall portion of my roots. I have a general idea of why the Chantelle rive gauche 3 part cup works - the top is open, and though the wire seems narrow the way it flexes open and stays there with the weight of the breast tissue holding it in place. I have a couple Natori t-shirt styles that have to be from the previous season in my mind due to the fact that all of the ones I tried at Nordstrom fit nothing like the ones I have and were so much more closed and narrow in style. My Wacoal enchantment doesn't have a stretchy upper cup but is in the sweet spot of height and width so that it works for me.
