Why is it? Wires makes me ill! (Round rib cage).
Wires in the center gore has killed me since 2006. From what I derived of MilkAndHoney's theory about wire tilting on a round rib cage I now wonder what the h'll to do. I'm beginning to think I'm so used by being killed by wires in the center gore I don't even understand the fact that they literary does hurt me. This cannot be what it does on another person. It simply cannot. Not even with pressure allergy wires in a way too big cup with a really loose band should kill me.
Bending wires away from the center gore doesn't work. Bending them narrower doesn't work. Bending them to fit my body doesn't work because I curve all the way around. I am like a barrel. The problem isn't worsened by bigger wires, rather the opposite. But I don't even know how wires are supposed to feel, I just finally realised this cannot be the meaning.
Wires being hurtful in some ways, yes. Wires making any bra feel too tight and take my breath away, plus giving me instant heartburn - NO!
Edit: I am looking for the physical explanation as to why all wires dig into the center gore on a curved rib cage, practically shaped like a barrel and if there is anything in the world that would make them not do that. Because I'm thinking of giving up on wires completely. Which is kind of a huge decision for someone so much into bra fitting as me.

The clue might be in the comment about heartburn. That sounds like a medical problem--you mention pressure allergy, which I am not familiar with. I do know if you press on certain places around the sternum you will get that feeling. Could be you have a very sensitive nerve, or it's closer to the surface than most people. Perhaps it's a sign of some other medical issue. But I agree--it's not normal. That's why I would suggest getting a medical opinion.
Hi. I should have been clear. Yes I'm ill from heartburn and yes I have it checked, but wires makes it worse and I'm now thinking they might have been a factor playing into how it got this bad. But that's not the point. The point is what's happening with the wires physically on a body like mine. I actually don't think the condition is in focus here, but rather the incompatibility between a very round rib cage and flat wires stretching and distorting and therefore digging into the center gore. I am thinking of giving up wires completely.
So you could ask your man what he thinks is happening. He's the engineer, those are the people who can tell me what's happening and if there is anything to do about it. I actually think it's not.
