DIY Lingerie Experiment
Before my braducation, I was wearing 36D. As I'm super narrow, that wire width was right for me. I realized that one of my old bras would be a great fit in the cup if it was only several inches deeper. Obviously, that's not possible, but I thought I could take the top mesh section out and use it as a shelf bra. It won't help my everyday bra dilemma, but my bf will certainly enjoy it. Mainstream lingerie isn't full bust friendly anyways.
It's a two part bra with a diagonal curved seam. The top cup edge is made of elastic, which will make the "strappy" look that is in right now. I've cut the mesh away from every part but the diagonal seam. I think that I will fold the mesh down to strengthen the bottom section and add a little flair instead of cutting it off. It will need a dart, and I still have a gibbous shape at the bottom to fill in. I think a contrasting scrap of lace will do nicely.
I tested it, and I'm amazed that it actually has a decent amount of lift. It even covers my nipples since they are east-west (center fullness). I guess since I'm extra puffy today, the ladies might be holding their own more than usual, but so far it looks good. I'm excited.

Fascinating! I'd love to see a photo of the finished product. I always have problems with wire wires (and more specifically cups that cut into my armpits), but I've heard that polish brands like EM and comexim are great for narrow-but-deep shapes. Perhaps they might work for you? I haven't tried any personally because you pay through the nose on shipping from Europe, but every so often a used one will show up on here!
I will definitely make a post w/ a picture when it's finished. I'm planning to order a comexim bra, but have passed on EM because I've heard their straps are wide-set and my shoulders are very narrow.
