Bionic Bra
This article is actually a few days old but I just ran across it (I thought someone has posted this here already, but couldn't find the adventure). I think the technology is really cool, but I doubt it's going to fix the size bra fitting problems. If the technology doesn't help the bra fitting problems, this kind of research could possibly have applications in other fields.
That being said, in these kinds of articles, there's often the statement "x% of women wear the wrong size bra". Which is a fair statement (I'm not sure if that's still statistically true actually), but there's never any other information that I'm interested in knowing about:
- In what ways are the sizes wrong for them?
- What sizes should they be wearing? For instance x% of women should be wearing one band size smaller than their current size, etc.
- How easily can women purchase their correct bra sizes? For instance, 34C is available in every department and lingerie store, whereas 30J can only be found online. This would probably need to be grouped by geographic region. Also, cost of the bras would factor into this.
I feel like these additional questions will help figure out what the actual problem is, and you can only fix the problem if you understand the problem and I feel like a lot of people don't really understand the problem.
'Bionic Bra' could revolutionize the brassiere as we know it
Australian researchers are working on the the world's first "Bionic Bra" that tightens and adjusts based on movement.

Reading that nonsense article put me into a mini rage, for the same reasons you more calmly and eloquently put than I am able to sputter out right now.
LOL. You've got to be kidding me!
This reminds me of THE IT CROWD
Series 2 episode 5, where Moss invents a bra for Jen. It is FUNNY!
