First Step In Finding A Fit
So, today I received my first bra since learning all the ins and outs of proper sizing. It's a 28GG Curvy Kate Princess. The very first thing I noticed after trying it on is how tight it is. That's alright, I expected that a 28 band would feel tight after years of wearing a 36 band. The straps felt very tight and itchy, but once I loosened those up it was all good in that department. After a while of wearing it, the feeling of tightness around my ribs and back lessened to more of a comfortably snug sensation than a squeezing one. The cup size actually fits! So that's amazing. The only thing I find that isn't correcting itself with time is the feeling of the gore.
Now, I obviously have not wore a correctly fitting bra probably ever in my life, so I'm not sure if this is just one of those new feelings to get used to, but I find that I am very aware of the gore pressing on my sternum It doesn't hurt or hinder my breathing, it's mostly just uncomfortable and distracting. I feel like a cat with tape on my paws-- it's not killing me, but I feel an urge to pull it off and away from my chest.
I don't know if the uncomfortableness is a result of Curvy Kate's industrial grade underwires, a too small band, or just my own inexperience. However, I think for my next purchase I might just try a 30G...

Welcome to a terrific community.
I recently acquired one of these bras and I love it! I wasn't sure if it'd work for me, but it does. I hope it does for you as well, but if not, list it!
I haven't figured the gore thing out yet, either. I'm sure there's a pattern to what height/width of gore is most comfortable for me, but I haven't figured it out yet. What I have noticed is that a really snug fitting gore makes me feel really supported in a way I wouldn't have even thought was possible, although yes, it does take some adjusting to (the one I have on right now -- Panache Jasmine -- feels too tall at first but gets more comfortable as the day goes on).
