Small, wide, and uneven

So I know that most of the ladies on this site are quite a bit larger than I am and therefore may not be able to help, but, on the off chance that anyone can, it seemed worth asking :)

I wore a 32A or B for years, which always perplexed me since according to the add 4-5 in method I technically should be a 32AA (bust measures 32.5). I hated shopping for bras soooo much (which really is saying a lot since I in general love shopping) that I'd try to find a new one every couple years only when it became really necessary since it was such a demoralizing experience. After my last depressing shopping experience at bloomingdale's about a month ago (I actually cried when I got home, embarrassing but true), I got so fed up that I started doing research and found this site, which has been very helpful so far. I've pretty much figured out that I'm a 30B or C, which explains why 32As and Bs sometimes worked.

But now on to the crux of the matter. I always knew that my breasts were uneven but had never measured them individually. I now realize that they are a full cup size different, left is a 30C and right is a 30B. It's not just the measuring that made me realize this--wearing the proper band size, which pulls the cups against my body better, has made the size difference more obvious. As a small-busted girl, I've always been hyper sensitive to seeing any sort of gaping or wrinkling since it's happened so many times. I think that this is the reason that I bought so many 32As in the past since my smaller breast filled them out. What I didn't realize was that with a properly fitting band (meaning 32A's sister size of 30B), neither of my boobs fit quite right because the bigger left one basically starts hogging the bra, like pulls the gore up and towards it making the right side shift and fit poorly too. I know now that I need to STOP catering to the smaller one and just go with 30Cs, but I really can't stand the wrinkling and gaping I get in them on the other side.

So my question is: what is the best way to fix this situation (without surgery obviously hah)? I've read that getting bras with cookies and taking one out is a good solution. I really don't like thickly padded or push up bras (though I'd be ok with a removable cookie sort of push up bra if removing one cookie just made that side into a lightly-lined cup). To top all of this off, I'm fairly shallow and wide. That plus the fact that I wear an unusual size means there are very few bras out there for me in general. After much searching, the only bras I've found that would accommodate a shallow, wide 30C AND have removable cookies are the Lepel Fiore Plunge and Iris, but both of those are horizontally seamed and appear to make a smaller bust look rather pointy. So are there any others out there that I'm missing? Or has anyone figured out an alternate solution (sewing in your own cookie pockets maybe)? Though doing alterations seems like a bit of a pain, I'm so desperate for options that I'd also be open to bras of the above-mentioned variety that come in a 32B and having the band altered.

It is so unbelievably frustrating and upsetting to finally discover after so many years that there are actually bras out there that come in sizes that could fit me, only to realize that they never fully will.

Sorry for the length! Feeling very frustrated at the moment, so this is largely just me venting and I apologize for that.

  • Maybe you should get yourself a gel pad for the cup in which the smaller boob lies?

  • Yes, like Scharminkeltje said; you should always size for your larger breast, and augment the other one. If you can get the sizing right , you could sew pads into the smaller side so you don't have to keep placing them every time you put your bra on. I would think you ought to be able to find bras with cookie slots. I usually put both cookies in my small side.
