[Update at the bottom!]

I have a boob-related emergency.

So. I am getting married this weekend. We've been engaged for a long time, were planning a wedding for last fall, had to put it off for financial reasons. They do free courthouse ceremonies here on Valentine's Day so we decided the other night to just do it.

I have my wedding dress I bought last year. I decided to try it on tonight to make sure it still fits fine, and it does but for one detail. The chest area is too loose! I'm perplexed by this one as my boobs have gotten larger since then! The only thing I can think of is the store bra I'd been wearing when I tried on and bought the dress was really padded (this was before I had any idea about properly fitting bras etc.).

Here's the other issue. I don't have a strapless bra. I don't have anywhere local that carries bras in my size. I have neither the time nor the money to order a strapless bra online. My options are what I can find at Target, or perhaps Kohl's, VS, or Frederick's if I spend a bit more. It's not going to fit no matter what I do since I wear a 36HH.

WHAT DO I DO. I need to somehow pad out a too-small strapless to fill out the top of this damn dress.

[UPDATE]

So, I bought a cheap strapless from Target that is not even remotely close to fitting. It's a 38D, it sits too low, I quad out all over, etc. BUT. By some miracle the padding on this horrid bra and how it makes my boobs quad is enough to fill out the top of the dress so I can wear it without having to go for last-minute (and pricey) alterations that I don't have the time or money for at the moment. Yay!

Also thank you for the congratulations, everyone! We went and got the marriage license today and I've been giddy all day long because it's REAL and actually happening! :D

  • It'd be easier and less frustrating for you to have it taken in just a little bit. Shouldn't be too expensive, and if you go later in the day today (Tues) to find someone, you might be able to get it done. Honestly that is going to be a much easier solution.

  • I wish that were actually an option but it isn't. I can't afford last-minute alterations, not to mention that I simply have no time to do so (screw you work schedule). I think some well-placed safety pins will do the job, though. Going to play with that tomorrow.
