Introduction-ish/Found a great bra in 34dd, but band is too big :(
I found this site a few weeks ago, along with learning more in depth about proper sizing.
I'd been sized at VS (wearing a 36c or b pushup) as 32c. The 32c didn't fit, so I was given a 32d.
A D?? So, being completely confused, I began researching. They sized me pretty on spot. I can wear a 32dd in their bras, but I can also pass with most of their 32d's.
So on many sites I've been on since, people say VS is horrible at sizing and to try Nordstrom, Macy's, etc.
I've been to 3 Nordstroms and 1 Macy's and no one would size me. The first girl measured my ribs at 31in and gave me more 32d's. The one was a beautiful unlined (my enemy bra at this point) and gave my boobs that downslope snoopy look, as usual. I said no thanks. I try those same ones in a 32dd or 32ddd and my boobs look perky, back fat disappears and armpit fat is gone. I did try a 30dd in the same kind and the band had no give and was just too tight.
Second and third Nordstroms I went in wearing my new 34d and 34dd's(Vera Wang unlined demis), and they told me to stick with the band even though I'm 30 inches, and to stick with the D cup, without measuring me. The first girl was the only one to even inspect the cup. The others were giving me privacy I guess, but I really wanted a check.
Oh, I also went to Intimacy. I asked for a 30dd/e, and they again, would not measure me when I asked (not even my band this time), and said I only need a 30 band if I want more support. Uh. I do! I want a snug band. The Wacoal 32dd I tried on had the band I want, but the cups seemed semi too small.
Anyway, the Intimacy girls said the 32d was fine, but it was a VS long line, where I first noticed some quadboob going on. They were overall in a hurry and unhelpful. If a girl comes in and wants a 30e or f, your job is to help them and make a sale. It's something with Pennsylvania retail employees, I swear (it's ok, I worked mostly retail and I know all employees do is complain about the smallest thing customers do- such as simply walking into your store). I get being busy, but it's just a let down. All I want is for someone to measure me, fully, and check the fit. I only get that at VS here for some reason, but I'd really love a Wacoal. :/
Today I asked a woman at Macy's if they had 30 bands, she said she would check online and asked if I needed an A or a B.
A 30a or 30b.
Lol
I measure 30 underbust and between 6 and 8 overbust(8 leaning). That's about a 30ddd/e, f, or 30g, right?
My boobs ARE small, and she just looked at me in confusion as she mentioned my really small frame, but the frustration that no one knows proper sizing...it drives me nuts, and embarrasses me when I ask for a 30ddd or f.
I don't think I can do the F, but I fit in 32ddd's. I tried on a Wacoal B.Tempted 32ddd and it fit wonderfully. I also tried on a Wacoal unlined 32dd and it squished the top of my boobs just a bit, so I didn't get it.
I just want a slightly smaller band. Molded cups haven't worked out great, but now that I know I can wear unlined as long as it's not a 32d or under, I'm ecstatic anyway; I've always wanted to wear unlined but they've always made my boobs look droopy, squished and made my sloping chest bone even more prominent(something I definitely don't need).
I just wish stores had more selection. It's very frustrating and now that I have an idea of proper fit it drives me crazy to see 34B's fully stocked on every rack.
I'm considering making my own custom bras.
Anyway, if anyone reads this, I'm really happy to have found this site! Thanks for helping women rediscover their bodies. There really shouldn't be so little information on bra sizing. So many women live in pain or just hate how they look. I'm really serious about wanting to start custom making bras. I have a lot of knowledge now and I'm frustrated myself that I can't find certain bands and cups anywhere :/
And when I do (Nordstrom) I'm advised to stay in my 34dd that's great in the cups but killing my back.
Meh.

dude. u just described my LIFE! i wear between those sizes also.
i was just at Macy's yesterday and knew i couldn't ask for a 30 band because last time i went i asked for a 32D and she was like, "um, i think i should measure you".
aaahhhh! lol :)
It's so embarrassing. Haha
I know my boobs aren't ginormous, but neither are true D's.
Also, it was right there in front of her: I picked a 40dd for my mother and a 32ddd for myself and my bra was miles smaller in the cup!
Even my mom was like "look how tiny yours looks next to the one I'm getting".
xD
Maybe at this point it'd be more beneficial to just buy what we think fits and size check here :p
