Going off-topic/thread hijacking

As someone who has been a member of Bratabase for almost 4 years, I thought it wouldn't be out of line for me to write an adventure for some of our newer members to address an issue I have noticed quite a bit recently: going off-topic in adventure comments.

I have seen quite an increase lately in comments shifting from the original topic, specifically, the people commenting are making the discussion about themselves, their size, and other issues instead of what the original adventure was intended. I know this can't always be avoided, and in some cases, good information is uncovered. However, in many cases, the topic gets so strayed that the original poster is now receiving zero feedback on their own issue. I know many of you are excited to be in the midst of your bra-fitting journey, but remember, so is everyone else. If you are turning everyone else's adventure into your own, how is that helping them? How is that helping our sense of community here?

I don't write adventures very often here, but I felt this was important enough to share.

  • Thanks for posting this. I agree with what you say, that's called "Thread hijacking" and it's just bad netiquette in general. I will happen on any discussion place, we may just need help to kindly help to correct course.

It's easy to get derailed and center talk about oneself. I would like if they would write their own new adventures instead of this behavior.

  • yes, i've noticed this also.
for example, i had to re-post a certain topic numerous times before i got a response that was remotely close to being helpful.... in the end it can make the original poster feel ignored and not important enough to help
