Info on different brands/fit?/What are some of your favorites?
I've been trying to find bra bloggers/reviews and I'm actually having a bit of trouble.
Bratabase is great for specific bras, and there's probably people on here who've written about brands in general, but I feel like I might have a lot to sift through to find something.
So can anyone tell me about the benefits(or cons) or certain brands?
I found a lot of Freya bras that I love, but there are a few in other brands that I can only find online in my size. They'll look nice, but I'm afraid they'll end up like me with pretty dresses: I see dress, I love dress, I buy dress, I put dress on and realize my bulkier arms make it look miles less dainty than it looked on the hanger.
For example, I think I've read people saying Cleos and/or Curvy Kate(??) are shallow?
I'd like to know if there are certain brands that normally have certain characteristics such as the shallow thing, or even if they run true to size, usually have wide or narrow wire shapes, are for some pretty intense projection or just anything.
So here are some brands I've been trying to find some info on:
Chantelle
Fantasie
Tutti Rouge
Simone Perele
Wacoal
Curvy Kate
Cleo
Gossard
BP Undercover
Natori
Elle Macpherson
Empreinte
Underella
Heidi Klum Intimates
Mimi Holliday
Panache
Parfait
I've tried 2 Parfaits in 30E and they were pretty terrible. They seemed to run large in the cup or something. One had this dreadful side support band that was tighter than the cup. I wondered if that was just a thing with Parfait, or if I just tried 2 bad bras. They were on sale very cheap, and it made me wonder if that had something to do with how bad they were. Lol
Haven't tried Heidi Klum, Panache, Mimi, Gossard, Cleo, Curvy Kate, Tutti, or any molded Simone Perele. I have a Gossard, Tutti Rouge, Natori, and Chantelle coming.
I did try a 30DD in BP and it didn't fit in the cups, but I don't think they sell a DDD. Tried a few Natori, have a Feathers on the way. Tried a few Chantelles, it seemed like it really depended on the model. Tried a Wacoal and the upper cups were too large. I have 1 balconette Elle Macpherson and the cups seem a little too shallow. The unlined Simone Pereles I tried didn't give me a shape I liked; Empreintes did. So on and so forth.

I'll sound like a broke record, but if you ask me, it is the wrong question to ask about brand wide generalizations. It is easer for the brain, but bras vary a lot per model. Some brands are fairly consistent in certain aspects, like Polish brands (Comexim for narrow wires, EM for tighter bands) but you will find some bras in Freya being loose on the band and others not being loose. Some Panaches with wide wires and others with not so wide wires. Curvy Kate with shallow cups and CKs with not so shallow cups.
Your best chance is by cuts where you can group certain styles within a brand, like Freya Longlines that behave similarly, or the old generation Curvy Kate Showgirl line which were shallow (but not the new ones lanuched in 2014)... but still, some cases like Cleo Marcie cuts, will not all behave exactly the same due different fabrics and details that can affect fit. Some behaviors will change on different size ranges. Some Parfait just get taller cups on bigger cups and not as tall cups on smaller sizes.
Yes, this makes things much more difficult, but that's how I'm finding real world to be, brands aren't consistent within themselves, old styles and new styles vary.
My recommendation, use the site to keep track of which bras you have tried and fit information of what worked or not. Do searches based on mesaurements and look for many measurements and many reviews since they illustrate better the little details.
Tip: You can add bras you don't have and only tried on on stores to kep track of what worked or not even if you don't own those bras: http://bra.pe/AqI/
Did you click the "meet the bloggers" button below? It takes you to a searchable Bra blog list, which makes it easier to find bloggers who share size or characteristics with you.
