Boobs and birth control

I started on birth control close to 2 months ago. I'm far too absent-minded to remember to take pills every day, so I opted for a etonogestrel implant in my arm (it's a plastic stick, 4 centimetres in length, lodged just under the skin in my upper left arm). So far, it's doing its thing. I'm feeling fine and haven't encountered any bad side effects - except, I discovered I had lost about 15 lbs within a month without trying - and, for the first time in my life, some of it had dropped from my chest area. I've lost weight before, but never from my boobs. I think that my shape has changed too; it seems I've lost some top fullness. Some bras fit the exact same (bless you, Cleo Marcie and EM's PL cut!), some I can finally get into and wear comfortably (like the beautiful SM Burek, which I used to quad in), and some (or, a lot) have gone from sexy low-cut balconettes to flappy full-cup granny bras with flamingos printed on them (well, the Cleo Darcy anyway). Half of all my bras I'll have to alter or sell, and buy smaller sizes of the ones I can't live without, if I can find them again, with many of them having been discontinued... sigh. At least I won't get pregnant for the next three years.

Ladies, what are your experiences relating to breasts and birth control? Lost weight, gained weight? Shape changes? Soreness? Any changes in firmness? Tell me everything. I want to know your stories.

  • Wow, I've never heard of anything but weight and breast GAIN from the pill?

  • I second dbmamaz ! Maybe it's because your b.c. is the implant kind? I don't know anyone who has used it, so my knowledge of it is non-existent. But congrats on the weight loss (maybe?).

I didn't experience much weight gain when I went on birth control (Ortho Evra patch), but my hormones were super wacky the first year and have since leveled off. My boob size fluctuation weirdness happens whenever I start dating someone new. I've gained a cup size (or 2!) with every new relationship I've entered, and it has nothing to do with weight gain. I think it's a hormonal reaction to being around new testosterone or something??

Related to shape changes, I will say my boobs changed pretty dramatically after tissue migration occurred. Mine were wider set and FoB, whereas now they're quite projected, narrow, and more FoT/center-full. So boobs are wacky things.
