Curvy Kate = Tentatively My New Favorite Brand

Update - all reviews up except for the swimwear.
I'm so excited to be able to say this but, after seeing that article with the new model, I thought they may have changed their shape and fit. I really believe they have! So for bra science I ordered a bunch of different bras of their latest season, and one of their old. The old one didn't work for me, it was weird, as to be expected, but every single one of their new bras was varying degrees of good!

Nothing was exceptionally wide, nothing poked (at first, but through wear it did a bit but that is largely due to the band size I'm in which is sister sizing), and they were all super comfortable. In fact, it seems that their bras have: 1. increased space near the gore, so mostly all of the gores tack or just about tack 2. the wires are all fairly narrow and 3. almost all of their bras have a projected shape, similar to the Jasmine. They're not perfect, but they're really good!

I wish they'd come up a little higher but then they wouldn't be balconettes (which I wouldn't mind but full cups get a bad rep). I literally have been walking around my house without a bra because I've burst nearly out of everything atm due to my son's increased nursing, so I am wary about keeping them because of the size, but I think they'll work.

I will be of course posting everything over time but the bras I tried were (first impressions below, not final):

Curvy Kate Arizona Balcony Bra (CK3801) - This was the most interesting one to me because it's padded and I've never seen a padded UK bra in my size. It's a strange fit, like it needs more inner depth and has too much cup on the sides, but I noticed that if I pinch the gore it seems to fit well and I like the look under shirts! Good t-shirt bra.

Curvy Kate Jewel Balcony Bra (CK3401) - This is my second try, it is probably the most "iffy" bra for me because it seems a little low cut but its very narrow and projected so it technically fits but not?

Curvy Kate Cascade Balcony Bra (CK3601) - This is the one I saw on their newest model. I love this bra, it's so comfy and it tacks and this is the one I don't want to take off.

Curvy Kate Bardot Balcony Bra (SG3101) - This is a SHEER bra (yes really sheer!) and has a projected shape. It works too but also would prefer a little higher.

Curvy Kate Moonflower Non Padded Tankini (CS2506) - This is pretty good, I prefer the ability to cover up that non sewn cups have. I found out I can take off the bow part too.

I haven't tried any of these long term so I won't review them until I try the ones I'm keeping for a day, but I wanted to let everyone know that if they're looking for new bras to try, try CK's spring/summer season bras! The fall/autumn season catalog is also out already, and it looks like they'll be introducing a stretch lace bra, and reworking some of their old models, so I'm really excited for CK right now.

The only problems I foresee are the usual shifting and spilling out with my very soft boobs, but so far, so good! Oh and some might start stabbing even though they don't now, so we'll see.

  • Interesting. There is no data at all on Cascade, so I look forward to your pics and reviews

  • I tried on the Dita after years of avoiding Curvy Kate unlined bras. I prefer wider wires, but the early CKs were way too wide for me! The cups are definitely narrower now, but not too narrow (34FF). Now they're a bit too projected for me, but I think I'll live. I think at higher cup sizes most people are more projected?

So yes, seconding the kudos for fit tweaks and redesigns!
