I just can't figure out my shape

I experience a lot of contradictory issues in my bras. I never found one that would be perfect.

What I'm certain is that I'm full on top and have a tall root. But the width? I can make out a crease I push the breast in and the breast visually grows like that. Going with this would mean I'm very narrow. But the characteristic lumpy breast tissue that gets tender at certain times a month extends way beyond that, right under my arm.

I have roughly two types of bras - shalow and wide, but also projected and narrow. Each presents significant advantages and significant issues. Anything in between just combines the worst of both worlds.

Shalow and wide
+Comfortable underwire, perfect underarm coverage that is high enough, ideal strap placement, good lift and enough space at the top of the cup
-Wrong shape, pulls breasts apart, less projection than even braless, not enough room at the gore, underwires nowhere near natural shape

Projected and narrow
+Shape feels (mostly) right, nice projection, underwires fit the shape of the breast
-uncomfortable underwire, strap placement way too narrow (which pulls the top of the cup flat, therefore again not enough room at the gore), not enough underarm coverage, not enough lift, cup often closes up too soon.

I have actually found out that for the strap placement to be OK on a narrow bra, the straps would need to run straight up from the underwire.

What do you think is happening here?

  • I wonder if part of this is that the narrower bras are from some brands and the wider are from others, and those brands have fit issues for you?

But usually a fit request with pictures makes it easier to figure out

also curious - you have a couple of bras with glowing reviews - marked as fitting - but those dont really fit? Or can you just buy more of the ones that do fit? Sometimes its like that, if you find something that fits, you just buy it in more colors lol

  • I don't have anything really useful to add, but I am struggling too. True story: I bought a Cleo Lily, it was super comfortable and fit me pretty well except for the wires being a little wide, but I returned it because it gave me a flat shape. I also feel like a lot of bras that are cut more projected get the sizing waaaay off in my size range. Sigh.
