At what point do you think a "not perfectly fitting" bra is still acceptable? » All bra adventures

At what point do you think a "not perfectly fitting" bra is still acceptable?

I'm just curious (and apologize if this has given rise to torches and pitchforks before). Everyone has different comfort levels, though I suspect we can all agree that bands should not ride up, there should not be quadboob, the gore needs to tack, etc. But what "not perfect fit" things can you live with?

For instance, after trying on my latest round of purchases Thursday, I (almost as usual—I just think my breasts are more horizontal parentheses-shaped compared to so many U-shaped wires) have yet again a couple of pretties—Marvel and Patsy—with varying levels of orange-in-a-glass (probably not enough projection for me) and gapping over my smaller breast. (The Curvy Kates I tried on were SO OIAG I was absolutely horrified, therefore they're thrown out altogether. View pictures at your own risk.)

The top gaping, if it is not too bad and mostly just confined to the smaller 'girl', I'm generally fine living with (like the Juna 28F), but I find myself really wondering about OIAG because isn't it then providing less support? That said, if it's a tiny bit, not even a finger-width, I find the bra much, much more tempting.

What do you all think? Are there things aside from band fit, gore, and quadding that you're willing to let slide a bit?

Mostly I'm just nosy as can be. :) Though you can feel free to gawk at the awful CK photos if you like, ha!, and I wouldn't mind a few more peeks at my more recent Juna & Patsy try-ons. (Forgot to make them public adventures when filling them in.)

  • Well, i never understood the 'orange-in-a-glass' description but I saw on one of your fit requests that someone said its supposed to be when you dont fill the bottom of the cut because the wires are too narrow, not because the bra is too shallow, and it LOOKS more like the bras are too shallow on your, rather than too narrow?

I am a little frustrated with this whole 'what fits' thing myself today, though.

For me, if its comfy and looks decent under clothes, I try not to be too picky - but I have 2 lovely black bras that seem to hurt under my boobs, and I think because they are both too shallow - ok, honeslty, the envy seems to be doing better, maybe I finally broke it in after 6 months?

I have two beige bras that I fall out the center of because the cups are too small and not center-heaviness-friendly.

and then I have 3 floris, 2 of which I'm still breaking in. Those fit . . .

but i'm not ready to give up my black and beige bras yet!

  • When it comes to fit perfection, I think what people are willing to accept will vary by size/shape and also by what that person wants a bra to do for them.

I am willing to accept a snug-but-slightly-loose band, especially in a broken-in bra, because I have a bony ribcage and tight bands huuuuuuurt me. I even made a note on my 30B - Gossard » Glossies Moulded Bra (6271) that it doesn't feel like that bra is supposed to have a tight band, although I can't say exactly what gives me that impression. When I hold the band tighter, it just makes the wires hurt me. As long as the band doesn't ride up and the girls feel supported, I'm okay if I can fit my whole hand under the band.

I am less forgiving of too-wide cups/wires if I feel like the bra is flattening me. I came from the 34A world and I do not like feeling overly minimized in a bra. A couple of bras have felt too wide and shallow, such as the 30C - Cleo » Lily Balconnet Bra (7351). I have seen other people where too-wide wires don't bother them.

Straps sliding down my shoulders- again, coming from the 34A world, this has always been a problem for me and I HATE it. Fortunately, most smaller-band bras do not do this, which was a really pleasant surprise for me.

Armpit fat- I generally do not care about this, and I was perplexed when I first saw fit requests for it.

With my size/shape, it's rare that a cup is too shallow or the wires too narrow for me. I am getting to know what a bra can really do for me instead of being a lame nipple cover. I don't care too much about perfection at this point but I'm happy that my relationship with bras has improved a lot by learning on this site.
