LONGLINES.
I have a serious Freya longline problem.
It all started when I read Invest in your Chest's review of The Freya Nieve. I was new to this market of cute, well-fitting bras that didn't shun the sub-32 band or the DD+ cup. All I'd had all my life were nude-colored, poorly fitting 32DDs. (I couldn't go to Victoria's Secret, because every time I went they laughed at me for browsing the 32DD drawers and coerced me into trying on 34Bs. This is a real store that makes lots of money, people. It's unacceptable that I couldn't even get a bra there when I was in their size range. But, that can of worms is for a different post.)
Anyway, after crying multiple times about not being able to find a single longline that fit me, this blog had shown me the light! It was a longline, it was the cutest blue flower print I'd ever seen, and IT CAME IN MY SIZE! I HAD to have it. But, unfortunately, I realized that this amazing longline was from a few seasons ago--nobody carried in anymore. My heart sunk as I searched everywhere to no avail... it really was too bad that everyone who bought it liked it enough to keep it.
Until one day, I got an email from Brastop showcasing their new collection... AND THERE IT WAS. The elusive longline I'd been longing for (ha) was FINALLY in stock somewhere. BUT... by the time I had seen the new listing, my size was gone.
Gone.
But I HAD to have it.
So I sister-sized up two bands: that's right, I got a 32E. Right back to where I started. I figured that if the fit was really THAT bad, I could just return it.
I put it on and looked in the mirror...
No, it turns out I couldn't. It didn't fit at all, it was riding up to my shoulders and I didn't even have to stretch the band out to get a fist between my back and the band, but I couldn't return it. It was perfect, even though it fit worse than some of the Victoria's Secret bras I'd tried on. "I'll alter it," I thought, "I'll make the band small enough for me!"
Now, imagine repeating this same experience with a 30FF Ivy Longline.
...and a 30FF Carys Longline.
That's right--I now own 3 longlines, and none of them fit me. And I've convinced myself that I have the ability to alter all three of them. I've been convincing myself that I can do this for almost a year now. (Only a couple months with the Ivy and the Carys.)
But I CANNOT PART WITH THEM! I tried listing the Nieve on a forum, but it broke my heart. I want them to fit so bad that I've become a longline hoarder. I keep telling myself that I won't be allowed to get the new Freya Hello Dolly or Babes in the Wood OR EVEN THE BEAUTIFUL GREEN DECO HONEY unless I sell at least one longline or alter them all... but the longline hoarder in me says I can keep them all.
The worst part about this is that I'm not even all that thrilled with the way longlines look on me. I think they make me look really narrow and tall. But I just love the idea of a bra that can also be worn as a flirty crop top. (I also kinda want to die when I look at the prints. In a good way.)
So, I guess what I'm asking is... how do I deal with this? Should I buckle down and alter them? Should I get someone else to alter them for me? Should I buck up and sell them? (Maybe just one...?) Maybe I should make one of them into a half-cup so I'm not such a longline hoarder anymore?
Tell me what you think and you may win a barely-used Freya Longline! (Not really. The longline hoarder in me says I can't do that. But I still appreciate your opinions, especially if they include sewing expertise.)
Freya ‘Nieve’ Long-line Bra: Bras for 30+ backs reviewed
Back in September, Cheryl reviewed the balcony version of this lovely bra and whilst it might be a little too cold for my ideals of frolicking about in a field with this and a high waisted skirt on, it still ...

I think you should buck up and sell them. Then troll eBay for them in your size. I see the Nieve and the b/w one with the same cut (is it Edina?) there regularly.
If it doesn't fit you, it is a waste of space and money.
Sell them! Or actually alter them by taking the back in if you think you have the patience and sewing skills and energy to do it. But then you need to do it like now and they need to be able to fit you in the cup when you are done, which means that the Nieve Longline is most definitly not an idea to keep as it will be too small in the cups if the 30FF Carys Longline isn't too big in the cups...
Freya releases it's first longline in a 28-band, the Just Flew In Padded Longline Bra , and a 28G might well be the longline you've always wanted, and, it may fit you right from the start. Isn't that better?
