I was wearing a 38 ddd Playtex 18 Hour Original Comfort Strap (4693) bra just before my fitting, At the time, it was really the only bra I liked to wear, although I had a quite a few, of many other styles and sizes. I often went into the store and kept trying on bras, with the biggest cup size I could find until the girls were pretty contained--contained to the point of suffocation, rubbing together and sweating. Not one pretty bra in the bunch.. not one that fit with the gore tacking, not one that had a wire. I hated them all and worse, I couldn't be on my feet for more than an hour before getting a deep ache in my lower back that was dreadful. In those sizes, me, my uni-boob, and clothing, looked wider than we were and I felt doughy. I had no idea that they were the cause of my daylong discomfort though out my body!
Since finding a brand or two I can wear correctly, with gores tacking or almost tacking, in a 34H or 34GG, the girls are happy and my back is ecstatic. I am walking a few miles each day with the dogs now and literally have not had a back pain issue since. My back doesn't even get cramping at night lately and I think that problem is solved too. ( I would lay in bed at night and get cramping on the muscles from my spine across the back ribs) I am hopeful that is also fixed and I have not taken an over the counter pain med since either. I am pretty sure I had no clue that the body's alignment could be influenced so positively when correct support is used.
On the good side, 2 more bras came for me in the mail from HerRoom on sale. I will be measuring them and adding them to my collection. They are the 34GG - Elomi » Edie (4000) in a 34H (as the gg is wonderful but needs more fussing with as it is the least bit small around the top edge) and the Elomi Kenza Underwire Plunge (8880) 34h which is just beautiful in color and while initially I thought similar in fabric to the 34H - Elomi » Renee Banded Bra (8440) It is not as scratchy, it's immediately softer and when I tried it on and it squeaked. This is the first Elomi I had that squeaked. I will be measuring them both then wearing them later this week for review. All I know is, Elomi brand fits me pretty darn good and they are all nicer looking bras than I have ever owned.

I'm a 32J. I think when I went to the fitter, I was wearing a 36DDD and I said it almost fit. She laughed at me and said "Your boobies are saying 'why dont you like us?'"
But before that i'd been wearing Decent Exposures for 20 years. They fit, but didnt give as much support. I look so much thinner in my new bras!
I'm always grateful that I never had the back pain - its not like I'm athletic or anything, just lucky i guess.
Honestly, about 15 years ago, when I lost a bunch of weight, I went to Fredrick's of Hollywood to be fitted, as I knew there was something wrong with my bras. They put me in 38 G, but they were very uncomfortable wearing during the day and of course, the back rode up. I only just got rid of them, giving them away to my niece to see if they might work for her. (They won't) ah well. About 10 years ago, I was again fitted by a woman who told me I was a 34 (Yea right) band but only had up to 3d's and so that was a bust (pun intended) too.
Now last year I checked Nordstroms site, and did measurements like I saw on line (their site did not describe how to fit a bra in detail) and ended up ordering a 36hh which was waaay too big and I sent back. I then tried a 36h which was still too big and the under wires were still too high and uncomfortable. I kept it, removing the under wires and wore it occasionally. I did use their on line help for bra fitting which is why I went down a cup size on the reorder. But I was discouraged with the second attempt and with low self esteem, gave up.
It was only in the last month my spouse who found this bra store hidden in this strip mall near me, that I never knew was there that things started to look up. They weren't perfect fitters (fitting me for what they had than what I needed, but at LEAST they had close to what I needed, fitting me with a 34H, a 36ff (the FF I returned) and a 34gg - Elomi » Caitlyn Underwire Side Support (8030) The gg fit well enough although the gore doesn't lay flat, it almost does. She said I was too deep to have a gore lay flat and wouldn't let me try an H because it would be too big.. I suspect they didn't have an H for me to try on in that style, now though. Eventually, I found my way here and got more confident ordering bras.
