AUS to UK Bra Size Conversion

It seems that no one knows how to correctly convert AUS sizes to UK sizes and no matter who tries to argue with me the proof is clear. Every bra size conversion chart that I have ever seen has said that an 8 band is a 30, a 10 is a 32 and an A cup in the UK is the same as a A cup in AUS but an 8 band for example is made for someone who has an underbust measurement of 63-67cm or 24.8-26.4 inches. A 30 band is for some one who has an approximate underbust measurement of 30 inches. A 8 band wearing a 30 band could have a bra that is 6 inches to big for them in some cases. An A cup in any given band is 10-17 cm difference depending on the exact band measurement in the size range of the band. Australian cup size measures are a lot less accurate than UK ones because it depends on the actual bust measurement rather than the difference between the bust and underbust measurements. An 8A has a bust measurement of 77-79cm. If their underbust measures 63 cm and their bust 79 cm they would have 17cm difference but if her underbust was 67 cm and her bust 77 there would be a difference of 10cm. A 10-17cm difference is approximately a 4-7 inch difference putting her in a 24-26 D-F depending on preference and underbust measurement. The size a bra size converter would put an 8A in is 30 A. Though it is a sister size of 28D it is obviously not going to be the same because of the band. The best bet to finding the correct bra size in another countries sizing is to whip out a tape measure and find a bra size guide online from that country.

  • I am more confused now than when I started reading this post. so... are you suggesting not including any conversion charts at all, in favour of always remeasuring? there must be SOME equivalent sizes.

  • Australian bra sizes don't convert very well into other countries bra sizing but I can say that an 8 band is approximately a 26 band, a 10 band a 28 band and so on. For the cups I honestly don't know how to convert it most accurately.
