The first time my mum saw me in a bra that fit me (in the cups, the band was a size off) she stated that my breasts look perky and larger than without a bra and I was lying about how my body looked and though she wouldn't say it to my face I could tell she thought it was slutty. I am Bangladeshi and in our culture it is frowned upon for a child my age (I'm in middle school) to be wearing a bra at all.Though we have lived in Australia for 5 years she is still conservative about this sort of stuff.

  • If you're at the point where you have significant breast tissue, it's perfectly reasonable to wear a bra. If you're worried about adding to your breast size for modesty, look for some unlined options that won't add bulk. A lot of them give a more natural look (especially from Freya and Fantasie) that may give you a good middle ground between pleasing your mother and supporting your breasts.

  • She has adjusted a bit to my bra size now because we recently moved to a colder place and I wear a lot of sweaters that hide my body shape. We aren't doing great with money right now so I feel guilty spending money on things which are not necessary. To add to the problem my mum is very awkward to approach about stuff like bras and periods. An even larger problem is my younger brother, we always go shopping as a family because my dad is at work most of the time so when we go it is either with our dad as a family or my mother, brother and I. I am not allowed to go shopping by myself or with friends either. At least I can easily enough find my sister size in shopsâ˜ș
