Cleo Kali will be the death of me...

Has anyone ever tried to add a band to an unbanded bra (specifically the Cleo Lucy Balconnet Bra (5851) or the Cleo Kali Balconnet Bra (7561))?

I am in love with this bra. It is gloriously neon green, and it fits my boobs fantastically. The wire width is perfect, there's no gapping, no quadboob, no puckering, no wrinkles, just smooth, uplifted, rounded neon goodness.

Except that murderous gore.

The bottom of the gore on the Kali falls directly on the end of my sternum where my ribs begin to separate (pressing on the xiphoid process, for anyone who remembers their anatomy class). The pressure/digging in is not noticeable immediately, but becomes excruciating within a couple hours. I've tried putting a layer of moleskin along the gore which diminishes the digging-in, but cannot eliminate it completely. I still have a terrifying angry red gash from the bra, and I cannot survive an entire day in it.

So what do I do?!?!?! I love this bra. I want to keep this bra and give it compliments and buy it flowers. I want to buy other bras like it because I love the way it fits my boobs like a glove.

Can I add a band to this bra? Will it make the gore stop trying to kill me? Should I try a different alteration? I have some sewing skills, but no knowledge of how to apply it to this bra. I thought about taking in the gore completely to see if removing it removes the problem, but I'm concerned that that will alter the fit too much (the band is perfectly tight as is, and a more open top may then wrinkle).

Help please! Is there any way that the Kali and I can stay lovers, or are we a doomed Romeo and Juliet?
