Underwires or no underwires for nursing moms?

Id like to hear from other nursing moms out there. I have two nursing bras, one with underwire and one without. Now I know that underwire is supposed to be bad because it can cause plugged ducts but it seems that those without dont offer any support. My daughter is 17 months and I havent had any issues. I prefer underwire nursing bras and love my KM EM one!

  • Underwires are fine after the first few (2, 4, 6...) months. If you don't find your breastsize fluctuating much through the day I think it's perfectly ok to use wired bras.

I wore wirefree nursing bras for about a year with my first child, then continued with my old non-nursing bras. With my second child I started with wirefree Royce nursing bras. Later, I got some underwired Kris Line nursing bras, because the wirefree bras didn't give my breasts a nice shape. And after those, just regular underwired bras. I'm only feeding once a day now so I don't really need a nursing bra anymore.

In case anyone wonders, I breastfed child #1 for 2 years and child #2 is 2 years 6 months now, and not willing to stop.

  • Im still a 24 hour diner. Nursing on demand. Oh the joys. I come home from work and have to feed her. Cosleep so she nurses all night.
