Didn't fit

OH HOW I WANTED THIS BRA TO FIT!

I ordered it a while ago after a lot of deliberating on whether or not to do it. Lingerie outlet store was having that 30% off sale, so I figured... eeeeeh, why not?

From my limited French brand knowledge I figured cups run a little larger.
Unfortunately, by the time I got this bra my boobs started running a little larger too.

Cups do seem to run large. I'm more a 30GG (30:10) now, and looking at ML Elixir size range this is a 30:8. I think a cup size up would have fit wonderfully.
They are very sheer three part cups, made of non-stretch tulle, and the seams are hidden by the little stretch of lycra around the heart -- I guess for some modesty. I will say the hearts are very visible under anything but sweatshirts, sweaters or thick shirts.
I get some serious quadding on my larger side, and some minor one on my smaller.
The detailing on the cups though, it's wonderful. The bra screams quality. I like it very much.

The band is a little stretchy but I think it wouldn't be such a problem for me if not for the short straps. They don't adjust long enough, and they are only partially adjustable, not all the way. They are very thick, though and I was super surprised by this. I love thick straps. Unfortunately, they pull the band up from behind and overall it's a very uncomfortable situation.

The wires are very sturdy, when I was doing measurements I couldn't get them to budge without using some force. They are narrow! The gore is on the narrow side too, and pretty short. I will say that this bra seems like it's made for short women because the wires are a little shorter (also the strap situation). The wings are not tall enough on the sides for me so I get some spillage on my larger side.

I wish this fit though! I really really do. The colour is a wonderful grey blue and the bra overall feels and looks great. I love the subtle, minimising shape it gives. I'm still not sure whether or not to keep it.

edit: and you know, I recently saw Wen of Comicsgirlsneedbras also reviewed this bra and I thought YAAAAASSSS. Cause she *looks* to be smaller in band, and larger in cup than me. But I guess not cause the bra seems to fit her perfectly. On me it's just too large in the band and too small in the cup.

I really like the detailing on the bra. It's a shame about the fit though.

  • 2

For future comparisons...Wen wears a 65G in Ewa BM and 65GG in other styles. She wears 60H in Avocado. Her underbust is 27.5" but she says she likes her band a little loose and I know she's full on bottom.
I love this bra soooo much. So much. Its gorgeous and it looks deceivingly good in your pics.

Frazzleberry the details are so so amazing! Absolute bummer it won't fit.

    Whelp.
I just always see her saying she's a 30GG so I'm like alright I guess maybe different shape etc but we seem to be about the same size (even tho to me she genuinely looks a lot smaller in band and a lot larger in the cup than me).
Then again I seem to have very tall breasts that look small but then... they can't fit into a 30G bra (and now even my 30GG CK Dottie is slightly quadding).
And yes, I really don't know why it's so hard to take photos of obvious quadding haha. Like it was bulging everywhere!

It is a beautiful bra. I'm gutted cause it looks like Maison Lejaby does not do 80H at all even though it seems to be in the sizing here on btb.

  • 1

That is really beautiful. I’m sorry it doesn’t fit.

I totally understand the tall boobs that look small thing. Gets me all the time too when I try on stuff.

  • 2

    Yes, right?
They look way smaller for who knows what reason. Most days i'm aware of how big they are but when I slip and go bra shopping I'm like 'of cooooourse I can ssqueeze myself into a 30G! Of course!'
Then the bra gets here and it's like NOOOOOPE.

  • brasaremean I really, really do not see the quadding. I don't see it in these pics or really in any of the pics you post of bras that you say are too small. I believe you, however is it possible some of it's exaggerated in your head? Cause obvious quadding will photograph visibly. This looks like a really good fit.

  • Possibly! And perhaps cause the quadding is usually on my larger side and in my head makes the asymmetry a lot more obvious!

  • Gorgeous color and design. Sorry it didn't fit. :-/

  • Yeah for sure, Lejaby has some beautiful designs!

Also I don't think I'm imagining this is clearly too small. I'm looking at it right now and even through the shirt I see where it cuts my boobs on both sides.

  • Wow, what a gorgeous bra!

  • Wow, what a gorgeous bra!

  • Btw, I can see the side spilling over that you pointed out, but I don’t see it in the upper area of the bra. Perhaps you are center full with soft tissue so you are seeing that more? I often lightly quad by the gore when that happens.

  • 1

If I sort of hunch over the quad is gone lol.

I think just something about my skin tone makes it nearly impossible to see the overspill in the photos.

To your comment, yes, I am definitely center full.

brasaremean Same for me. I have to get creative with the angle for quadding to be visible, a sort of angle shot from below focused on the cup edge, haha, or it just looks like a normal "fit"....... Skintone, lighting, I can't figure it out!?!

  • 2

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one cause I genuinely started wondering if I'm actually imagining the quadding!

  • 2

No, it's not just you! Photos can be very deceptive!!!

  • 2

Here's a link to how photos can be deceptive and hide fit issues like quadding:

    :-/

  • 2

Ow yeah definitely! I guessed it depended a lot on lighting.

  • 2

Yes exactly! Us wavies and curlies like flash because it adds shine and hides frizz. It’s definitely lighting and angles that hide the quadding. I had a hard time getting it to show in my Chantelle Parisian Allure pics. The bra looks like it mostly fits except for wide wires and slightly too shallow cups. The cutting in of the elastic edged cups isn’t really very visible.

This is really interesting MamaPagan, sometimes I feel frustrated with my pictures not showing the things I see

  • 1

veggiechic agreed! Sometimes I try to set up the self timer because I feel like holding the phone/camera affects the shape sometimes.

  • I know what you mean veggiechic. It gets frustrating when you know what you see when you look down and in the mirror yet it doesn't show in the photos. Then you start questioning if you were imagining your fit issues. ....

And yes, self photos do effect the fit/shape as the arm forward pushes the cup off the breast (or the straps do by default). So frustrating!!

  • 1

veggiechic Calluna This is why I bought a cable release for my camera, heh. I just wish the cable was longer. The lens is distorted so close.

  • But that distortion can be your friend too Sovavosi. Photos from above make the rib/waistline look smaller. :-D (Of course photos from below have the opposite effect.... :-[ )

  • What is a cable release Sovavosi ?

  • 1

It's a cable that plugs into the side of my camera that I can remote trigger the shutter with. It's used for remote operation as well as to reduce camera shake.

I have one but for my dslr but I usually just take my photos with my phone so it's no use.

  • Do they have one for iPhones?

  • Oh I see! I just saw the headset option. I will have to try it!

  • Sovavosi - did you ever sell this bra?

  • 2

  • Nah I didn't. They upped the shipping rates from Bosnia so I can't really cover the shipping anymore and telling potential buyers shipping is $$$ is eh. So I took down all my bras I had listed.

  • 1

Sovavosi She was just imagining how great you would look in this bra, if they made it in our range. 😍

  • Brain farts, apparently. Lmao.

    Too bad, brasaremean
I saw it online this morning and thought about how you had tried it.

  • I’m crying! I saw this bra too on Belle lingerie and I held back on it, but it looks so beautiful!! 😭. The measurements seem like they would fit me too!! How much is shipping costs if you were to sell it? I have some bras from Maison Lejaby on the way in a band size up, so I’ll see how those fit first.
