Hasn't set fit

I feel like I've been snookered by this bra. I ordered it because it was on sale, and from all photos of the bra, it appeared to be constructed with vertical seams only. All my best-fitting bras are vertical-seam only, but they're underwire. I was hoping to find out if softcup bras with vertical seams also worked for me, but it was not to be. This bra has a mesh-and-embroidery outer layer, which is indeed, vertical seams only. However, the inner, cotton layer that does the supporting and shaping is the dreaded 3-piece cup construction. None of the manufacturer photos of the bra show the inside, so I was extremely let down when I got it and looked at the inside. Three piece cups never fit me right, and are incompatible with my shape.

I purposely ordered one band size up from what I should have. I've ordered Hotmilk bras in the past, and I found their cups are both narrow and very close together. This was true of both the underwired and non-underwired varieties. I was hoping that by going up a band size I could get wider cups and just alter the band to be shorter. The cups in this 34 do appear to be somewhat wider, though I would prefer them to be wider than they are.

Aside from that, this bra is very pretty. I love the dramatic, dark red embroidery. There are three rows of hooks, but 6 columns of hooks. That's semi-standard with nursing bras, and a feature that I definitely appreciate. The drop-down cup is A-frame style, as opposed to side-sling. I prefer A-frame, but everyone has their own preference where that's concerned. The A-frame itself is a soft cotton knit, which is slightly stretchy, but feels tight compared to the total depth of the cup (if that makes sense.) One thing that might be an issue for some folks is that the embroidery on the top edge of front of the bra sticks up past the edge, which means some of it will touch your skin. When I tried it on, it didn't seem itchy, but I thought I should mention it since it could be itchy for some.

This is a nursing bra, and I'm still pregnant, so I haven't worn it yet, except to try it on. Unfortunately, I can't give information regarding fit since I ordered it one cup size larger than what I currently wear in hopes that that will fit when my milk comes in. I can say that after trying it on, seems like it's more than one cup size too big, but I guess I won't know for sure until after I've had this baby.

This bra also comes in black with white embroidery. The HotMilk website says that the straps on this bra are also wider in larger cup sizes, but I don't know how much wider, or at what point they consider the cup size to be "large."
