I ordered this bra from Breakout Bras after reading a review that the band ran tight since I am running low on options for a returnable 26 band. It is a 28G/60HH, which is the recommended 2 sizes up from my usual UK size of 28F. The Piume Notte is an absolutely beautiful bra. I'm a sucker for the jewel tones, stained glass aesthetic, and fall colors in any season! I'm heartbroken that it was not a good fit.
The band was wonderful. In my last measurement, my snug ribcage is 24.8" and when fully inhaling, it is 29", yet this band was super comfortable . It is one of those mythical tight 28s that a 26-band can wear on the loosest hook, yet it is stretchy enough to offer no resistance when taking a deep breath. The band material is a strong feeling mesh that's cool and breathable. There are 4 columns of 2 hooks.
The gore was PERFECT. It came already overlapping and is literally the first one that does not sit on my close-set breast tissue, despite not being a super low plunge!
Unfortunately the straps were not great. They are fully adjustable and elastic, but the material is thinner and "sharper" (not sure how else to describe it - the edges fee sharp) than I prefer. I know I'm spoiled by those thick velvety Wacoal straps, and the straps on this bra would absolutely not have been a deal breaker if it otherwise fit.
Sadly the cups were the biggest problem. My bigger side fills up the cup completely but my smaller side has a gap at the top of the cup, though it's not visible under clothing. The shape doesn't seem quite right for me. My breasts feel kind of smashed flat by the bottom of the cup, rather than held up, while the apex is a bit too high for me. I have firm tissue and no matter how I hike up the bra, the boobs refuse to let it sit in my IMF and push the bra down, leaving 0.5" empty space at the bottom.
However, the 6.6" cups are WAY too tall on my frame. (I'm 5'0). The wire width is also a bit wide. Alone neither would be a deal breaker, but together they create a cup that cuts into my armpit like crazy. The outer cup edge is finished with this stiff scalloped trim that feels too sharp on the skin when I move my arms forward. Just from trying it on, it hurt, and I can't imagine walking or doing things in it. This is unfortunately the one issue that I can't ignore since it makes the bra too painful for day to day wear.
So sadly, this one will have to go back. I'm not sure what's next...
