Didn't fit

The bra was a huge fail on me. I tried a few plunge bras from Elomi and had some issue with them then I decided to try one of their "full cup" bandless / banded styles. The Tia is a bandless bra, they do not state that it is a full cup bra but I would say it is just by how it fits? The cups came up very high on me, it is one of the tallest bras I tried recently. The band feels tts for a 32 band and was a good fit on me (I'm around 31 Inch underbust). The wires were much too wide for me, it was ridiculous, they ended on my back.

The fit reminded me of the 32JJ - Curvy Kate » Delightfull Full Cup Bra (1111) but the CK bra wasn't as tall as the Tia. Also while the cups fit me very well when looked at from the front, there was some weird underarm side gaping going on. There was too much room where I don't need it. The cups had a stretchy lace part that would cover almost all my breast tissue that is why there was not cutting in from the cup edge because no soft tissue left to cut in. The bra is really full coverage that's why I would call it a full cup. I can say that the bra is good quality and the fabric is nice, the cut and shape is just all wrong for me.

This bra is not owned any more

Oh, wow... those underwires sure took a walk.

It would be an interesting experience if you tried it with smaller, like G/H letters.

The situation is reminescent of past thrift (bröcki) shop failures I had when band fits but cups are way too voluminous.

Except that, lol, given the huge misfit, the external parts of the cups behaved as a wings.

    Have a superb weekend ;)

Although this one didn't workout for you, at least it added valuable data here to help others in their search for the perfect bra. For that, we all thank you! Each and every bra helps to strengthen the database, so yay for the new data you added!

  • 2

Yikes, that has to be one of the tallest bras I've ever seen. Who was this built for?

  • 2

Yes at least I got some data from the bra. It was interesting to try. I don't think that G or H cup would work for me. It would be too small. On the front I need the room in the cups, it is just too wide at the sides. Maybe a 34H with a firm band?

  • Yeah, 2 to 4 cups smaller would be getting you some serious quadding for sure!

  • Those cups look very voluminous for the letter.

I mean a volume takes 3 dimensions and the conventional definition of cup size is made on the base of a single dimention, the circumference.

Going down in the alphabet could be an interesting experience.

@femineaaterna With all due respect, you are trying to "school" someone who has been on the site for more than 6 years and has plenty of experience and knowledge on the subject. You seem to lack an understanding of the brand and their sizing, and suggesting alisa go down 2 to 4 cups from a J cup to a H or G cup is not logical at all, and in reality is insulting. While a 32HH (not 32 H or 32G) may yield better results for her, it looks more like this bra shape/design does not match her body. You are not factoring in all the aspects that matter, nor are you respecting her existing experience or knowledge by trying to teach her things she already knows or suggesting an illogical cup drop.

  • MamaPagan ,

I have no intntion to disrespect anyone. This would be a cognitively sterile effort.

I might have been on this site for far less than anybody else, agreed. However I have decades of practice in engineering complex structures and their configuration mechanisms.

Which is why I might have a different experimental aproach.

You'lll be amazed to know the amount of pre-emptive truths that get successfully challanged in the aftermaths of mishaps.

I was suggesting, a non-destructive experiment since apparently things went wrong despite more or less matching numbers.

Approach similar to what allows safe air travel even if occasionally some cut corners by excessively re-using what used to work until it didn't.

Which is why I didn't see any disrespect and I'm genuinely sorry if unknown to me factors led you to perceive offense in my arguments.

Here I have nothing to sell or prove. Occasionally I state what and/how things work for me and attempt to maintain a positively spirited open discussion.

And once again, I'm genuiney sorry if I hit undocumented wires and short-circuits ensue.

I can equally understand that this is your, the older users playground.

My scope is not to disrupt, this is a pretty nice innocent site with persons I have respect for.

So if for some reasons I'm becoming a "persona non grata", then, done deal, I'll fade away.

Thanks for your time, looking forwards to read you ;)

@femineaaterna I am not suggesting you "fade away" at all, but I am asking you to take the time to consider the person's experience and knowledge, factor in all aspects of body differences, and to respect others opinions and limitations before commenting.

It is not a matter of how long someone has been on the site, it's a matter of taking their point in their bra journey (how long they have been on their quest for proper bra fitting) when making suggestions, as well as factoring in their unique body shape/limitations as well as the brand in question. (A G in one brand is not the same as a G in another-that's why the site uses index numbers. )

@alisa has a lot of experience, and her adding a bra fail is not her asking for help, it is her adding the data, experience, and her insight on the bra model and design in comparison to her size and shape for others who come to the site in search of such data. She is in a unique size range, like myself, which has very little data available so every bra entered straightens the database, and in turn is valued and treasured.

Regardless, 2-4 cups smaller would not fit her, nor would it resolve the issues she experienced, but it would cause more issues for sure. And while such a suggestion wouldn't stop alisa from adding more bras, making such a suggestion to some would be very offensive and cause them to be hurt/insulted and not want to add more data to the site. Some reading your suggestion could be deterred from adding their own bra data, especially bra photos, out of fear of such comments made on their reviews. I have seen it before, and it hurts the site. Bras and the intimate nature of bra fitting is very complex and a super sensitive area, please remember that.

  • MamaPagan ,
    Ouch...

I had size charts and a pen. Estimated the excursion of the underwire. Scribbled numbers here and there. Attempted to move the discussion in a constructive analytical direction.

Occam's razor says that amongst all hypothesis, the simplest one is the best.

Which is that this is not a discussion on a mission critical life supporting component and no one will be hurt if I rest my case due to unforseen colateral escalations.

So this is what I'll do, sorry for the incurred inconvenience.

alisa Sorry for derailing your review! I appreciate your added data and value your experiences. It greatly helps build this site for both current and future members. Thank you for your contributions!!

  • Sorry for the unproductive chatter alisa . Anyone can have a bad day. And with the weather outside, today's gonna be my turn. So I'm outta here.

Everything okay. I already answered what I tought about trying G/ H cups here and thought the topic is done. https://www.bratabase.com/bra/dnbg9/#review-comment-23244
There would only be one case where I consider a H-cup... if a band runs 1 size small like on CK Victory, then I size up to a 34 band. Since the cups run big I would maybe size down to 34H a sistersize of 32HH.
G cups… those times are long gone.

alisa Thanks for the writeup! I love wide sides and this looks like something that I really want to try! And the stretch in the cups gives me hope that it will help me with my one larger than the other issue.

  • 4

alisa I experienced the same gapping on the top edge- it’s just a flaw/feature of the design- I think it’s designed for someone with a very V shaped back.

It’s funny the cup height is so tall on you. In my size the cup height was good, pretty short for a full cup bra, in fact, but I had the same issue with not enough center room so I had to size up. I loved the lace they used and found the back to be really quality and firm.

  • 1

cupandahalf I also was shocked that the bra is so tall on me. My back is not a V-shape, the bra would therefore not work in a smaller size because it is not roomy enough in the center to size down. Did you exchange the wires on your bra? I found them to be more flexible than newer Elomi wires.

  • 2

    Wow! Easy to see

    * how tall the cup is on you and
    * the wire going around to your back.

It makes me wonder about the cup width and depth measurements. Why is the depth ratio 2.4 for cups that wind around to your back? Strange. Doesn’t add up.

And with cupandahalf ’s comments... maybe you just got a “lemon” or maybe 32J is a hole in their Tia size range where the design turns into a fluke with weird cup height, width etc., a shape mismatch for **anybody**.
