Summary: encapsulation instead of compression, runs small in the band, great for close set breasts, strongly reduces bounce

I have searched for a functional sports-bra that both fits and handles bounce for the better part of four years at the minimum. I don't need maximum support all the time, but one to two weeks a cycle even my small breasts get extremely sensitive to any motion, even walking, so I basically couldn't exercise at all during those times. Everything I tried with an underwire spaced the wires too far apart for my close set breasts (this included the highly lauded Panache Sport) and everything without either didn't reduce bounce or relied too heavily on compression, which only caused me more pain.
This Anita Active wireless bra fits everything I needed. I had to go one band size up, but the cup size is perfect for me, and it encapsulates instead of smashing my breasts. There are no gore issues and I have almost no bounce running or straight jumping, but there is still some pain (tolerable, but there) doing jumping jacks. The material is pleasantly thin and light, the shoulders are padded, and the cup lining was a big surprise: plush micro-terrycloth! The only negative there is that the lining is stretchy while the outer is firm, so the lining tends to get a little wrinkly unless you really work at moving it around after you put it on. I left some wrinkles visible in the picture so you can see what I mean, but it is only an aesthetic quibble; the material's texture helps keep the wrinkles from being felt at all and affecting comfort.
Last little complaint: no J-hook to secure the straps in the back, but I haven't had any slippage yet, so it might not ever matter.

I'm adding this to my wish list. I use the shock absorber, but the compression isn't always what I'm after when things are sensitive post ovulation.

Ooh may need to try! I prefer non compression sports bras. Did you adjust to a sister size or keep the same cup.size with the bigger band?

  • confused It feels pretty true to cup size. I'm normally a 30DD on my bigger days and sister size 32D fits them just right.
