  1. Sunnie Stretch Lightly Lined Bra (9792-3487)

    2
    like

    30C

    Didn't fit

    The good:
    - super comfortable
    - soft & smooth fabric
    - fits well enough
    - easy to find & inexpensive!

    The less good:
    - band too large (UB: <26")
    - too shallow
    - cups are verging on too far apart (even for me!) and too wide
    - almost too closed in on top
    - the 'full coverage' look is really not my style, but in this case, it's working for me

    In sum:
This is a practical, comfortable, easy-to-find bra that isn't technically a good fit, but works well enough to still be a staple in my bra rotation. I'm going to attempt to alter the band, which may have the consequence of pulling the wires even wider and shallower, but I think it'll be worth it.

This bra is made for ultra short roots. I quadded like crazy with this bra for the sole reason that the top edges of the cups are very closed in. Don't buy this bra if you have tall roots.

My shape: even fullness, pendulous, center full with short and average/narrow roots. I currently consider my size to be 28FF.

Overall, I wear this bra because it is comfortable, and because my breasts don't fall out of it, lol. Because of my pendulous breasts, I need a LOT of immediate projection, which this bra does not offer. If your breasts are more shallow and not pendulous, I would actually recommend this bra if it is in your size range. It is very soft and comfortable and the look of it is cute and simple. A good "t-shirt" bra if you don't mind your nipples showing through every now and then https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />.

    • Aerie seems best for low projection and wide set/close set. I find the cups run slightly small.

About me: Shallow, tall and narrow-average roots, even vertical fullness, close-set but extremely outer full so I don't look close-set at all.

This bra is a perfect fit by virtue of the band running very, very small, so I would highly recommend it to anyone who can relate to my self-description (though someone wider-set could probably also get away with it easily). Unfortunately, it's now discontinued in this size and 30D.

I am shallow, full on bottom, pretty wide-set, with tall roots. This bra fits very well, and looks amazing, especially considering that it's a plunge and my shape usually does better with balconettes. The band is too loose to be a real 30, though - I have to set it on its tightest hook when it's brand new, so I worry about stretching. But the dealbreaker is the wire - it digs into my ribcage right around the gore. No amount of bending can make it better. It's completely unwearable after a couple hours.

My normal 32C Aerie Sunnie is starting to feel too small in the cups so I thought I'd try a 32D. The cup width is about 1/4 inch wider, the cup depth is a full inch deeper, the wing height and gore height are both 1/2 inch taller. The band is a little tight, but the band on the Sunnie stretches a lot so that wouldn't be a problem. The problem I have is not being able to fully fill the cup. I will have to stick with the 32C for now and look for another bra that has a cup depth of about 7 inches.

My recommended/calculated size is UK 28E (28"/27"/26" underbust, 32.5"/34.5"/33" bust). I would describe my shape as being FOB, projected, tall roots, very close-set, splayed roots/east-west appearance.

I got this 30D Real Sunnie Lace Full Coverage Lightly Lined bra at the very, very beginning of my ABTF journey. It's one cup size down from my 30DD sister size; one, because I had the sticker shock of "oh, I definitely cannot be that size the calculator told me!" and two, Aerie only goes up to a D in the 30 bands (and 30 is only available for select styles).

The shape of this molded T-shirt bra is definitely too shallow for ... my projection. With this bra, I get quadding at the top, while the bottom is oddly empty. The wire also sits a good distance underneath my IMF. The gore is also too wide, but because it is a short gore in more of a plunge style, it doesn't particularly cut into my breast tissue (particularly because the wire slips down haha). It just would fit much better (and give me the cleave I know I am capable of!!) if the gore was narrower.

In addition, I feel like Aerie's bands run small when you first get them, but they stretch out rather quickly, so that's something to be wary of.

While this does not fit me (particularly the shape), I do really love the price point, visual appearance, and comfortableness of this bra; it would be a cute everyday bra, and the Meadow Bound color and the lace are very pretty.

Best fitting one yet. Band is too long as I need to use the shortest hook for a good fit. Wire slides down as the day goes leaving about half an inch at the bottom between wire and breast. Straps are digging in a little.

    • You toooks like there's a bit of cutting in, in the 1st 2 pics.
But if you like this bra, you may also like the Katie (idk if they still sell it). It looks like it fits similar, maybe slightly taller cups. I tried the Sunni demi and it was quadding galore. The Sunni demi seems like it's more closed on top.

    • I see what you mean in the pictures, but I think it's because my upper tissue has no firmness. Every bra that doesn't completely cover my breasts looks like that. Even unlined bras look like that on me. With the 30D - Aerie » Sunnie Full Coverage Lightly Lined Bra I am so happy with the tall sides. That's my #1 need.

    • 1

I gotta be honest and agree with prettyncharmeuse - every 30D bra you've reviewed so far looks too small. They're cute and if you love them, it's your right to wear whatever, but I think you'd get much less (or no) cutting in if you wore 30DDs.

    • 3

Thank you!! I think in my case, it's a relative issue. Compared to hundreds of other bras I've tried, this is a great fit, lol! I totally agree about the DD or E cup sizing, but even a 30 band is pushing it for me. Aerie is the only accessible brand that I have ever been able to find. I have special ordered many 28 and 30 brand bras from UK, Poland, etc. but they are super expensive...and none have been so perfect that I go out of my way to replace it when it wears out. I have owned quite a few Panache Porcelains in 30DD, and I can get it here at Nordstrom, but it costs $68.00 USD, and that's a lot more than Aerie...So glad we have Bratabase...

    • 1

There's always Amazon!! Although I know 28 band size ranges keep getting smaller and smaller >:-|

    • ShaniSunAZ , I've had some luck with Calvin Klein and Betsety Johnson. You can find them at Nordstrom and sometimes searching around online.

    • Your advice has helped so much. I seem to fit much better in 32D's in Aerie bras. Thank you! :-)

    • ShaniSunAZ , every 32 band size I've tried on ends up riding up on me. Would you say the Aerie 32 band is true to a 32 or is it a little more snug?

    • The Aerie bras are MUCH more snug. Overall they seem specifically designed for smaller rib cages. For years I wore Panache and Freya in 28s and 30s but I always felt like they were "miniatures" of bras clearly made for larger rib cages, (and larger boobs!). I think that the designers at Aerie originally marketed to "Junior" sizes (as ridiculous as that is...) and those of us with small rib cages somehow managed to find their bras. In the US, if a 30 size band ever showed up in a store, it was in the "pre-teen" section.

My shape: close set, center full, full on bottom, average/narrow width roots, tall shallow roots, soft tissue.

I hoping this bra from Aerie would work because of its awesome price! Unfortunately it doesn't. I love the unlined look, but the cups came up super high, definitely fuller coverage. I did have a few wrinkles at the top portion. The cups were too separated for me (the gore is too wide for me). The gore is 1" (or 2.5 cm) separation at the top, but the bottom of the gore is much wider, so it sits on my breasts.

Originally I purchased this bra in 34B and found it fit nicely, but the band and cups were just the slightest bit too large on me. I found this 32C on Poshmark and thought it might be just what I was looking for. Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed. The band fit snug as I wanted, but the cups don't work for me. This size is too small for my larger breast (the slightest bit of quadboobing if I really scoop it in, but mainly it spills out on the side). Despite that, there is some wrinkling at the top of the cup on my smaller breast because my roots are short, so I don't think a 32D would be any better. I'm just going to stick with my 34B. It's a bit loose but feels more comfortable.

Seems this bra follows the "add 4 inches" rule. I'm a 30D, tried on a 32C in this style and found the band WAY too tight (as a note, their 32C in bra styles made of cotton fit perfectly fine). I swapped it for a 34B and found it fit me perfectly.
I have small breasts, only about 2 inches of projection with a conical shape. I have issues finding bras that are shallow and wide enough, but this one really hit the mark. The demi cut means I don't have the issue of cup gapping as I normally due (I have somewhat short roots), and the wires are ... wide enough to encompass all of my breast tissue. There is the tiniest bit of lacing at the top of the bra that I thought may not make it t-shirt friendly, but so far so good.
The reason I can't call this bra a favorite is primarily that the band is incredibly firm. Couldn't wait to take it off once I got home. It only stretches to 32 inches so you'll definitely need to size up on the band here if you are a true 34. Although the bra itself is cute, I'm not a huge fan of how flat it makes me look. You can see in the photos my chest looks incredibly shallow.
Weirdly enough I still feel the underwire hangs a bit low. I took it off after a day and found underwire marks below my IMF.

EDIT: After wearing it 2-3x a week for about 2 weeks I found that even though the band feels firm on the loosest hook, I can still comfortably use the tightest. It just cuts into my fat a tiny bit more. Nothing unbearable.

I've been wearing the Aerie Sunny for quite a few years and it's been the best fitting and most comfortable bra I own - it's definitely my go to bra. Aerie was having their after Christmas sale with bras 50% off. I purchased a new Sunny to replace my very worn out one. Sadly this one doesn't fit. I compared the bratabase measurements I entered for the old one against the new one. The new one, the band is 3/4" shorter and stretches 2" less. The cup is 1/2" narrower with a 1/2" less depth. I had to add an extender to get it clasped and when I did I was quadding out the top and the gore was digging in. This bra is more like a 30C than 32C. I don't know if I just got a bad copy or if they changed something over the years. I will have to head back to try on some other sizes.

    • It could also be that your old one stretched in the band, especially if you wore it often.

    • brasaremean Yes, the old one was all stretched out which is why I needed a new one, however, I compared the measurements to the measurements I entered in bratabase when it was new.

    • 1

Oh dear! I hate when that happens. I have 2 Cleo Marcie bras in 30F, but the navy is much tighter in the band than a 30 should be, and while my black has a tts band, it’s half an inch taller all around. It’s frustrating for sure.

    • Does this really measure that small? A 34 band should stretch more than 31”.

    • So I double-checked. Stretched it out and it got to about 33 before the underwire started to stretch out as well.

    • Ahhh ok. Sounds better. Glad you are happy with the bra. I like the bras they have but none fit me.

    • Really? I love all their bras so far. Been having some problems finding a bra that fits, cos I've gone up in sizes. Their quality is really nice tho.

    • I measure 28G UK which is 28I US. I can sister size to 30FF UK (30H US) and depending on the brand and cut, I can size down to 28FF/30F. Polish bras are a beast of their own size and fit. So I can’t fit any matrix store sizes like aerie even though the range is somewhat better than VS.

    • I want to try some Pour Moi bras, but I'm not sure about the sizing.

    • 1

You can start out by checking out the listings for pour moi in your index size here (34:4 I believe). Then you can see what is available and match up with the measurements of this bra. You might have to size up or down but but you might want to add more bras to measure for more comparison first as it’s not an exact science. Try all the bras...for bra science.

    • Thanks!
