Love it just is a little small as is when it's brand new, I love aerie. The band is lace under the boobs but the normal fabric on the wings. Has a hook in the back if you want to wear it under a racerback.
My recommended/calculated size is UK 28E (28"/27"/26" underbust, 32.5"/34.5"/33" bust). I would describe my shape as being FOB, projected, tall roots, very close-set, splayed roots/east-west appearance.
I got this 30D Real Sunnie Lace Full Coverage Lightly Lined bra at the very, very beginning of my ABTF journey. It's one cup size down from my 30DD sister size; one, because I had the sticker shock of "oh, I definitely cannot be that size the calculator told me!" and two, Aerie only goes up to a D in the 30 bands (and 30 is only available for select styles).
The shape of this molded T-shirt bra is definitely too shallow for ...my projection. With this bra, I get quadding at the top, while the bottom is oddly empty. The wire also sits a good distance underneath my IMF. The gore is also too wide, but because it is a short gore in more of a plunge style, it doesn't particularly cut into my breast tissue (particularly because the wire slips down haha). It just would fit much better (and give me the cleave I know I am capable of!!) if the gore was narrower.
In addition, I feel like Aerie's bands run small when you first get them, but they stretch out rather quickly, so that's something to be wary of.
While this does not fit me (particularly the shape), I do really love the price point, visual appearance, and comfortableness of this bra; it would be a cute everyday bra, and the Meadow Bound color and the lace are very pretty. Read more 149 more words
This is almost a great fit - just a bit too small. With a larger band, the cups are separated too much. It's a shame because this could be a really comfy bra.
You toooks like there's a bit of cutting in, in the 1st 2 pics. But if you like this bra, you may also like the Katie (idk if they still sell it). It looks like it fits similar, maybe slightly taller cups. I tried the Sunni demi and it was quadding galore. The Sunni demi seems like it's more closed on top.
I see what you mean in the pictures, but I think it's because my upper tissue has no firmness. Every bra that doesn't completely cover my breasts looks like that. Even unlined bras look like that on me. With the 30D - Aerie » Sunnie Full Coverage Lightly Lined Bra I am so happy with the tall sides. That's my #1 need.
I gotta be honest and agree with prettyncharmeuse - every 30D bra you've reviewed so far looks too small. They're cute and if you love them, it's your right to wear whatever, but I think you'd get much less (or no) cutting in if you wore 30DDs.
Thank you!! I think in my case, it's a relative issue. Compared to hundreds of other bras I've tried, this is a great fit, lol! I totally agree about the DD or E cup sizing, but even a 30 band is pushing it for me. Aerie is the only accessible brand that I have ever been able to find. I have special ordered many 28 and 30 brand bras from UK, Poland, etc. but they are super expensive...and none have been so perfect that I go out of my way to replace it when it wears out. I have owned quite a few Panache Porcelains in 30DD, and I can get it here at Nordstrom, but it costs $68.00 USD, and that's a lot more than Aerie...So glad we have Bratabase...
There's always Amazon!! Although I know 28 band size ranges keep getting smaller and smaller >:-|
ShaniSunAZ , I've had some luck with Calvin Klein and Betsety Johnson. You can find them at Nordstrom and sometimes searching around online.
Your advice has helped so much. I seem to fit much better in 32D's in Aerie bras. Thank you! :-)
ShaniSunAZ , every 32 band size I've tried on ends up riding up on me. Would you say the Aerie 32 band is true to a 32 or is it a little more snug?
The Aerie bras are MUCH more snug. Overall they seem specifically designed for smaller rib cages. For years I wore Panache and Freya in 28s and 30s but I always felt like they were "miniatures" of bras clearly made for larger rib cages, (and larger boobs!). I think that the designers at Aerie originally marketed to "Junior" sizes (as ridiculous as that is...) and those of us with small rib cages somehow managed to find their bras. In the US, if a 30 size band ever showed up in a store, it was in the "pre-teen" section.
This is a very comfortable bra! The band and cups are true to size and the side wings are nice and high. The fabric is super soft. I wish the gore was narrower and I wish this came in a 28 band. It fits my bigger side pretty well and I get a fair amount of wrinkle on my smaller side. I'm sort of tempted to try a 30C because of how full coverage it is - it looks like it's eating my chest.
I have shallow conical breasts that was measured at a 28DD. This is quite a full coverage bra as it comes up relatively high. The band is a little more firm than some other models of Aerie bras, but is still quite stretchy. There is very slight quad boobing on my larger breast right after I swoop and scoop, but kind of settles back into the bra after a little time. I am still undecided if I want to keep the bra. Everything else is comfortable and has soft material.
First off, my usual size is a 30D. I have breasts set farther apart, more shallow than projected, and even or maybe slightly more FOB. This bra must run small in the cup because I did not fit in these cups at all! After swooping and scooping, I had major quadboob and everything was squishing out the top. Additionally, this bra feels more cheaply made compared to my 30D - Betsey Johnson Intimates » Favorite Perfect Tshirt Ba (72 . The band length felt good for a 30, however, it does have less elastic than I would like. I am worrisome that it won't hold up as well as others. I will have to return these and try them in a 32D since Aerie doesn't provide them in 30DD.
I'm worried that the 32 will be too loose, as all 32's I've purchased to date ride up.
I have not. I have tried it in 30C, 30D, and 32C. The bra does not run small overall; it's just really shallow.
I size down in the band on the Sunnie, my first was a 34B and couldn't wear it after several months because it stretched out to quick. I bought another in a 32C and needed an extender at first. Now I'm on the last set of clasps. And it does run shallow (yay for me). I wouldn't say it's cheaply made but it certainly isn't as sturdy as some Betsy Johnson bras, but it's so comfortable and you can always find them on sale that I don't mind replacing them a little sooner than normal.
One additional note, I also tried on the Betsy Johnson Favorite T-shirt bra and it didn't fit me as well as the Sunnie. The cups were a little deep and closed off on the top for me. It fit better when I hooked the straps in the back but still not as well as the Sunnie so I didn't keep it.
Saskia_C - I am finding that 32D in the lightly lined bras, whether demi or full cup, fit well. The Cs are definitely too small.
So far the closest I've gotten without alteration. Super soft, very comfortable. Pretty heavily padded, but that's what I prefer. Band is very stretchy - not great for me because I need 26/28 but it doesn't have super tall cups like all 28DDs I've tried. Good for high breasts on this petite lady. Unexpected near success from AE!
I moved from a 30C to a 30D and this definitely feels much better - the band sizing is slightly tight but supportive, I'm pretty sure it will stretch out when I wear it more. Had to adjust the straps as always but we are good. Not to mention, the microfibre like material is SOOOO comfortable and I feel like I'm not wearing a bra at all! I'm still slightly skeptical about the cup sizing and things since it is a push up. I've yet to have a fitting check here on Bratabase, so once I do that I'll include more details!
I'm glad this one fit much better than the 30C. It still does look too small int he cups though. You are still getting some level of quadding. I you feel happy then go with it. Otherwise, I think that you'd do well to look at 30DD bras for tall rooted and/or FOT types.
This is soft, very basic, cute. Extremely thin straps that can be latched together in the back with a J-hook. I have short wide-set roots, with a frustrating combination of deflation and some lower projection, which makes bra fitting a nightmare. I had serious quad boob with this bra and think it's fair to say that the cups run small. The underwire was way too short on the sides, for me. This definitely did not work for my shape.
This bra is for: shallow, broad rooted, medium or far apart spaced breasts. If you are very FOT or very tall rooted this might not be for you. This is about as broad wired as I can stand for bras. If the wires were any more broad (Freya Deco Strapless, Natori Feathers) I would not want it. I don't like the colour and I will be exchanging it for another colour.
Definitely the best of my current bras, but that's because it's closest to my actual size. The cups may be slightly too small though, but given that the calculator put me somewhere between 28DD-E-F, that's not too surprising.
Very comfortable bra, even though it is too small for me. The material is soft and comfortable, band and straps fit well. The “push up” is not much, it’s really just a little bit thicker all around which I tend to lean towards in bras because I have my nipples pierced and unlined and sometimes even lightly lines bras let them peak out sometimes lol. I don’t know if it’s the push up aspect or if the bra runs small but if I were to repurchase I would go up a cup size or try the non-push up.
I would prefer this exact same style but with full cups instead of demi-cups, because the low cups "quad" when I move. These cups are very short, so they don't help keep armpit folds hidden.
I have shallow conical breasts that was measured at a 28DD. This bra fits my shape pretty well. The band is a little bit too loose for me (27" inches) though. The J-hook is a great tool to have, but it squishes out some tissue (fat?) from my armpit area when I put the hook on. The straps just barely adjust long enough to use the hook, so they might be a little too tight now, but am hoping they loosen up enough to not do this. Everything else is comfortable! One last thing to note is that the color (Energy) is pinker than other Aerie bras in this color and the quality doesn't seem as high.
Update: I didn't end up keeping this bra because the quality was not as high as I would like and the armpit squish indicated too small cups
I have shallow conical breasts that was measured at a 28DD. This bra did not work for my shape at all. The top of the cups jutted out with and without the padding.
I have shallow conical breasts that was measured at a 28DD. The band is the smallest of the bras I ordered from Aerie. It fits very well on my 27" ribcage! However, the center gore comes up much too high on me and digs into my sternum. There is also great projection on this bra. Although I have relatively shallow breasts, I do need some projection because I am conical as well. The cup fits my larger side very well, but wrinkles on the inner part of my smaller breast. If only this didn't come up as high on my sternum!
