Aerie was kind enough to gift me this bra for review. I had tried some of their bikni tops and was impressed so I was curious about their bras. The Sunnie is average width but decently projected. It wasn't an ideal fit for me, but it is so soft and comfortable it's great for lazy days and lounging around.
Great review and pretty much right on. Supper soft, need to size down on the band, cup separation is a little too wide, straps aren't overly stretchy but they are very comfortable. The only thing I find different about the Sunnie is that I find it to be on the shallow side (at least in the smaller cup sizes, 32C)
Before I (finally) correctly sized myself, I was wearing a 32B in this....really. A B. "Wearing" is probably a poor explanation for how bras sat on my body back then but I didn't know https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_razz.gif" alt=":p" /> Anyway, correctly measuring as a 30E/DDD and sister-sizing into the 32DD has taken this bra from creaky and nearly unwearable to one of my most comfortable new bras. It's not perfect - the little ring that serves as the gore doesn't lie totally flat, and it's a little tight on my larger breast (but not quadding, which happens sometimes with bras that fit the smaller one - ...it's just very full). Unfortunately DD is the highest cup size Aerie makes in almost all of their bras; DDD is only available with 32+ bands and for most cuts that's too much for me, so the sister size will do here. Not having band/strap slippage problems so it seems fine. I think my shape is moderately shallow, but it's hard to tell because my roots are tall, wide, and separate (a weird combo that I blame on my broad shoulders)....so if you love Natori Feathers but it does nothing to give you cleavage, Charley is your girl. Be prepared for some jiggle. But sometimes you just need that, you know? Read more 111 more words
The Aerie Sophie is lightly lined and has a taller, deeper cup than Charlie, it might be worth checking out.
thelittleone Thanks for the tip!! It looks like Aerie discontinued the Sophie (along with all the other old fits I used to like and wanted to try in the right size...sigh) but I'll see if I can hunt it down on ebay. looks like the shape could work if I don't gap at the top :)
Edit 2022: I had this bra altered by stitching the cups closer together at the gore, because the center gore was just too wide. Otherwise, everything still fits, might even be fitting better now. The fabric is super stretchy so that definitely helps, but it still has some amount of support.
Everything fits very well except for the center gore. It's just too far apart and sitting right on my breast tissue(my boobs are about 1.5 fingers apart). I'm going to get it tailored so hopefully it'll fit better. The center gore being far apart does seem to be a general trend for most aerie bras. The bra itself is very soft, well-made, and pretty. The band runs smaller(I'm 30E but sister sizing) so it's actually not loose at all.
I was lucky to find this bra in store when I went as they do not carry 32DDs in store but rather in their online store; someone had returned it.
Anyway, I find this bra pretty comfortable! The gore is nearly always flat, same with having a smooth line at the top of the cups. Although due to size differences between the girls and the cups being molded vs my projected breasts, I do not perfectly fill out the cups. Certain movements/posture causes the cups to gap or the gore to float slightly.
And yes the bra is a light pastel pink, my lighting makes it look white for some reason?
too shallow for me - wires below IMF cuts in at top slightly, not as much as the Aerie pushup styles though. Front clasp is nice. Fabric is soft. I would like it if it fit. Band is too large, but they don't make 30DDs (or maybe they just weren't in stock)
Aerie does not make anything in 30DD unfortunately.
I have shallow breasts and the Blakely doesn't fit me either. It just seems like a weird cut, the Sophie has a lot more projection with narrower wires and is non padded.
I bought this bra before realizing that I was wearing the wrong size, so I realize now that it's too large in the band. It's very soft, and stretchy, and I would recommend this bra.
Looks fantastic on you!
