I wouldn't normally post a bra adventure, but I would have loved some information before bra shopping in Japan, and it was definitely an adventure!
So this is my second Japanese bra and it is from a shop called Aimerfeel. I have never found a bra with narrow enough wires and straps for me before. This comes very close to being perfect! The wires are very narrow, and the straps are as close set as I've found, although they are still too wide on me and dug in a bit at first but have softened after washing. Because of this, this bra doesn't gape on me nearly as much ...as the Ewa Michalak bras I usually wear. This bra also gives me really great cleavage, which I haven't been able to get from a bra since I grew out of Victoria's secret https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
There is a lot of option in Japanese bras in my size (H65 = 30G) which surprised me, I spent about 4 hours trying on bras at the seven bra shops I found within the station complex in Sapporo! Some of the bras I tried were even too narrow! Most Japanese bras I find quite ugly, with large applique flowers, ribbons and ruching (but my Japanese friends think Western bras are ugly, so hey). They also have a very pointy shape, which is improved if you add pads to them (which I guess is how they are designed to be worn, most bras have cookie pockets), but they are still pointy. There were a couple bras that fit me but had such a strange pointy shape that I didn't buy them (although they were comfy!). This bra is pointy, which isn't ideal, but it's not as pointy as most others I tried and it's so comfy I don't care.
This bra doesn't provide a huge amount of support, but does provide enough, and it feels soo comfortable. It doesn't feel like my boobs are being pushed to the sides like in my other bras, instead it feels like they are held in front where they should be, which is nice! The quality of the bra is not great, the lace on the edges is already starting to fray a bit, but I have washed it in the machine in a laundry bag and our machine here doesn't have a delicate cycle so I think it's holding up pretty well considering - I've also probably worn and washed it every second day. Also, it was very cheap, costing 3,400 yen with panties included, so I'd say the quality is about as good as I would expect for the price. This bra also has fairly thick padding and pockets to add cookies (which is perfect for me as I have one boob a whole size bigger than the other!)
All in all, my Japanese bra shopping trip was a success! I've since ordered more of the same bra online as I like it so much, plus some others to try which weren't successful that I will be reviewing and posting on the listings page in the next few days.
This is so cool! I've always been interested in Japanese bras. Are you still in Japan? Where do you buy them online?
Thanks! I left Japan last week, I bought the aimerfeel bras online at Amazon.co.jp and rakuten, as I found it easier than using the aimerfeel site which is in Japanese. I don't know if they will ship overseas though. I also bought some bras from Shirohato, who do ship internationally, but I found the aimerfeel bras fit me better :)
I was looking at the measurements- 5.5" width and 8.7" depth? Are those right? I'm only asking because I'm also interested in narrower wires
yes.. any place we can buy japanese bras online?
Hi revisa, yes those are the measurements for my bra, but it is difficult to measure the depth as there is a sling inside and the cup is pointy rather than rounded, so a straight line between underwires may miss some of the pointed part. The cup is fairly shallow at the bottom and deeper in the top half where it is pointy, I guess this is what gives the cleavage. Newhere, it seems that aimerfeel on amazon.jp does not ship to Australia (as far as I can tell), but it looks like aimerfeel on Rakuten will ship to countries other than China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea. Shirohatoshop.com ships internationally.
silver , this is great news. We need more info on Aimerfeel, and lots of people need narrower wires and closer set straps!
My shape: center-set, mid-height, forward-facing teardrop (aka ski jump without the jump, just a straight slope) with tall full-but-shallow upper roots, functionally even vertical fullness, low apex, very side-full wide roots with shallow tissue extending all the way back to the shoulder blade, lots of immediate projection underneath but little-to-moderate overall projection, and very firm tissue that doesn't play nicely when pushed into other shapes and will push right back
I received this bra from another user and while it is pre-owned, I think it is in great shape! I'm not sure how much the band has stretched from previous use, but it fits me nicely on the second ...set of hooks, and it is certainly still gorgeous. The pink mesh overlay is beautiful and the two-layer illusion is hands down my favorite style, even though they're harder to disguise under clothes and we never get them here in the US (or even the rest of the West, really). The black lace is a lovely contrast, and the little filigree pendant at the center bow is unique and so different from the standard "diamante" accent, while still familiar and classy. The only thing I might wish different is the pink is a little duller and less clear or "true" (like baby or bubblegum pink), but it is actually closer to my skin tone this way, and I still think it's beautiful.
The band is a little narrow and feels a bit stretchy, but is in no way uncomfortable. On the loosest hook it feels like there's not quite enough tension to keep my breast tissue inside the cups, but on the second it is fine. 3 hooks per column!
The wires are too narrow, but I've mentioned before that there are a range of widths that work for me because of the shallow trail of underarm tissue I have, and I'm rarely bothered by wires that rest on it. In this case, it follows the edge of most of the fullness, and the wing is tall enough to keep everything from shifting around.
The cup construction is definitely different! It's a side-sling style, but it only has one additional seam, the horizontal one from a standard T-seam 3-panel balconette cup, making it a 3-part cup. I get a slightly pointy shape from it, but it's not unnatural or unattractive. It definitely keeps everything front and center! I get some pretty good center cleavage from this, as much as I ever do, anyway, and I think if you are center-full this is definitely a spill-out-the-middle style. There is a cookie pocket for extra push-up oomf, if you want it, and the whole cup is slightly padded, although I'd say more like how Freyas are "padded" and less like a molded padded t-shirt bra.
It stays in my IMF! That's definitely rare. I don't think the immediate projection is quite enough, but in this case it translates into lift and cleavage.
I am in love with the gore. Before my bravangelism, I wore plunges exclusively, and while I don't miss much about the lack of support and shape mismatch, I do miss those gores. I suspect I have a touch of natural symmastia, which means that any gore presses on tissue and hurts, and this one is low enough that it ends before my tissue meets. If it were taller, I'm not sure it wouldn't float, but as it is, it's great! Plus, there's at least 1.5 cm of space in the channel if you need to shift the wires around.
The straps are narrow, and while other ladies might have a problem with that, my firm tissue is very self-supporting so I usually don't. I think they're quite soft and comfy, and although the pink mesh overlay attaches quite high up, I haven't had any issues with it showing so far.
Ok, now how do I get more of these without bankrupting myself on shipping? I am addicted! More more more! Read more 544 more words
i love to investigate sleep bras, so when i found out aimerfeel had their sleep bras in their FGH/glamour sizes i just had to try one! this bra is very comfortable, and it has inner slings to keep your boobs apart, or at least minimize the skin on skin contact. i followed their size chart and got the GL size, which is for an underbust of 72-78cm and an overbust of 96-104cm, which i just barely qualify into! it's a bit of a hassle to get on with larger boobs, since i basically have to scoop them in while pulling it on to minimize stretching the fabric. i slept with it on last night, and was extremely comfortable! i can highly recommend this sleep bra even for people outside of aimerfeel's usual size range. the only thing i would change is giving it a hook and eye closure back, because i know it won't last as long being stretched over me every night! lol
Band fits like a 30, if not, 28 at smallest. Does have good stretch, but also flexes right back, so this is good. They say Japanese bras tend to run a couple cup-sizes smaller to the equivalent from western brands. But, I would say this 65H, which= 30FF (UK), approximately seems to equal of that cup-size. The only thing is the wires are quite narrowly set & whilst panache’s wires are a bit too wide for me, these cups are too narrow. Instead, the cups are very projected in shape and possibly more projected than many bras in this size. My UK bra sizing would actually be a ...30F, but because I am wide-rooted, evenly-rounded, yet on the shallow side, I estimate my size in Aimerfeel to be a 65F. This 65H has never been worn, but tried on several times. The band was on the tighter side the first couple of times I had tried on the bra, as a teen. The bra has been tried on every now and then, over the years, just to see how it would fit after a sufficient amount of time had passed. Now, I am 21, and as I have not grown to fit this bra after all, I will surely be selling it. The band is now less tight, but fits more like a true 30 band, in my opinion. Could probably just fit a 28, too, but I cannot be 100% sure as I do not own any TTS 28-band bras.
The straps are removable, and if the bra was the right size for me, despite the cups being a little too narrow for my width, they would fit comfortably and snuggly, in my opinion. The cups are firmly padded despite this being a moulded bra, and are sturdy yet soft at the same time. If you are narrow-chested and projected, this would be a great bra for you. The quality, support and additional versatility of the strapless option (and tan/skin ish colour!) makes it an all-rounding win.
I had rated the Comfort as, "Good" as I have yet to try it in my size- I had bought the bra knowing of its UK-size equivalent, but not truly knowing my own size, yet. Read more 264 more words
While my usual Japanese size would be F70 (one letter up from my EU 70E), they only make this in 65-80 A-E. I thus decided to gamble and order a JP E75 on the off chance that the band would run tight.
Spoiler: the band does NOT run tight. Also the cups run a size small. I think I'd need a JP G70 in this!
That said, the bra has an ingenious third strap on the inside, running under the back, which means it kinda stays up. It adjusts just like the other straps, except it hooks on the edge of the cradle, rather than the top of the cups. I think more strapless bras should do something like this!
I considered keeping it, but the cup shape is completely wrong for me, alas. It's very closed on top, creating a very plump and rounded, short-rooted shape; however, my roots are extremely tall. Coupled with the cups running small, I quadboob out hilariously.
NOTE: Japanese cup letters are off by one from the rest of the world, so this is actually an EU 70E/Bratabase 32:5
I first tried to find ABTF some 8 years ago, and ended up donating all the underwired bras I owned because the gore sat on my close-set boobs and I got intense body dysphoria from the separation. I spent the intervening years with my boobs taken care of by my BFF, Shock Absorber. Then global warming hit and I realized I needed an actual regular bra to go with spaghetti strapped tops. A bunch of research later ("no gore" "goreless" "close set" etc), I discovered an introductory ...post on Japanese brands, and ordered some stuff from Aimerfeel, as they have an English-language webstore that ships to my country and do not break the bank.
On to this bra! It's a molded cup with loose stretch mesh laid atop it + a J-shaped lace side. The inner lining/cookie pocket is cotton. The wires are L-shaped, the cups are attached to each other, and the "gore" is just some fabric holding the cups together. The inner sides of my boobs have never been so happy in an underwire bra! The shape is somewhat rounded, not too separated, and I get some nice cleavage.
On the downside, the straps are just a little bit too short for me, and the wings are a touch too tall, so the sides cut into my tail of spence when I move my arms forward e.g. to type. (Straps a few cm longer would ameliorate this, I think.) Bearable for a while, but I'd want to get out of it after a whole workday wearing it.
...the cups feel so cozy, tho Read more 177 more words
PROS: Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous bra!! Definitely feels like something a lolita (the fashion sub-culture, not the book) would wear.
Firm supportive band.
Detachable straps are always a plus for me.
All the insane amount of padding is removable.
Despite all its lace and ruffles and excessive fabric, it's actually not super noticeable under thin clothes.
CONS: Because I'm sure this bra was engineered to be worn with the padding, I find the shape of it without padding to be very weird... Lots of uplift and mega projected, but a really unflattering pointy retro look. Because of this I normally only wear it under layered or loose tops.
Although the measurements I took for it make it seem like it's actually quite wide in the cups, in actuality this bra is very narrow. A little too narrow for me to be honest.
This is a molded and heavily padded push up bra. The color is on the lighter side of beige. There are no embellishments at all. The straps are removable, but the pads are not.
The band fits like a tight 30 (or loose 28). There are side boning-ish but they are not rigid.
The gore is low, and there are no wire channels so to speak. The wires are embedded into the mold, it seems. Very comfortable, there is no digging in at all, which is a surprise considering how much trouble I usually have with other bras with low gores. The cups seems to run slightly small. If you're ...in between sizes, you should probably go with a bigger size. I can get a teeny-tiny bit of quadboob from time to time but not enough to go up a cup. The bra creates a round and uplifted shape under shirts.
Overall, very comfy and does its job really well. The size ranges 65-75 B-E, 80 B-D, and the price is relatively low (~$30 including shipping from Japan to US, the bra itself is about $20).
Update: I've had this bra for couple months now and I have to say the band stretched out very quickly. I don't think it is necessary to size up in the band. Read more 106 more words
Aimerfeel lists this particular size as H65 (bust 93cm, band 65cm). I probably should have gone with a G65 but this was bought off Rakuten without trying. The interesting thing about Japanese brands is that after a certain cup size they tend to increase the projection much more than the wire width, which is awesome for me since I really don't need wide wires. Even Freya wires are a tad on the wide side for my particular size (UK 30E which isn't huge).
Aimerfeel is a brand that is more for flashy, cute looks than function, so the material can be cheap so you have to be careful when you hook the bra.
"The interesting thing about Japanese brands is that after a certain cup size they tend to increase the projection much more than the wire width" Wow, it looks like Japanese bra makers actually did the research! I don't think any woman who is a very large cup size needs extremely large wires too, or her boobs would take up 90% of her torso... Boobs seem to grow down/outward, not wider!
Great for my close set, center full boobs! The cups are moulded and then covered with one layer of fabric (inner part satin, outer part lace). Does not cut into my armpits at all! The satin is very slinky and shiny and looks great on me. Nice, rounded, and most importantly, centered shape.
Fit notes: - The straps only barely adjust long enough for my medium-set boobs - The straps are also pretty wide set – not an issue for my broad shoulders, but idk if you are narrow? (Also the straps have the slider at the front.) - Go up a size – I usually fit UK 32DD (EU 70E)
i've fit in aimerfeel's H75 before (see H75 - Aimerfeel » サテン カシュクールレース 脇高 単品ブラジャー (6709-15) ) but that had a unique underwire shape. this bra is more traditional and it's simply too small. the quadboob is a bit insane on this for me, but the bra itself feels silky and comfortable. the bra did however come with some dents/lines already in the shell which is disappointing, but it's a cheap bra (2750 yen, or $18 on their global website) and i also got this for 20% off due to their summer sale.
i guess when it comes to their traditionally shaped bras, aimerfeel is stretching it for me, especially since my cup size has recently increased. i can't wait for my risa magli and rui glamorous bras to come my way https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" />
im pretty so-so on this bra. it's definitely a keeper, and by definition, it fits... but its made to create cleavage and i think i'd only wear it under a low neck shirt when i wanna look sexy haha. otherwise love it, it's super beautiful and comfortable (and cheap), it's not the bra, it's me! haha
Absolutely beautiful design. The cups run shallow and wide. Despite not being too small for me, this bra manages to push my breasts together and create cleavage. The sides do come up pretty high and unfortunately do dig into my armpits.
Too small for a UK 28E even though their other bra fit me perfectly. I guess their L shaped underwires fit much differently. I doubt this would have enough projection for me even if I got it a few sizes up.
It has very thick padding maybe double or triple of my freya molded bra. Might contribute to it.
Not very visually projected, with a narrow wire like most Japanese bras
It's pretty easy to buy this bra from the english version of Aimerfeel's website. It seems like in older posts about japanese bras that this is decently new. It is flat rate shipping of $15 to the U.S, but I got free shipping on 1 order from signing up for their mailing list / abandoning your cart after putting your email in.
This bra is really lovely. It seems to be pretty projected compared to my other bras, and keeps my boobs at the front. It gives a nice, kinda pointy shape. If I add some padding in the available slot, it rounds it out a little bit. This is the first bra that I've had that gives me the look I want and doesn't squish my boobs down. The narrow underwire matches my narrow root almost perfectly.
It seems like every bra with the J/L shaped wire on Aimerfeel's website has the same cup design, just from looking at the inside of the bra. The quality is not the greatest, the lace is already fraying a little.
Molded and seamless plunge bra. - As the band is quite stretchy, it's just snug when I use the last hooks. - The outer top edge of the cups and straps irritate the skin. - The wires are soft and stuck in the mold smoothly. So I barely feel uncomfortable though they cut breast tissues a bit. - I think this bra is a tiny bit small for me. Wearable, not bad but technically not the best fit. I want to give it a try to 65E.
I was bought this when I was visit japan. 6 month ago before, I was measured 32dd(70e). This bra can do scoop and swoop well side bones are higher than other bra line. It makes bust prettier. It had also pads help push up, If don't need that can take off pads. I wearing this take off mini pads. I think this brand can find my size better than Victoria's secret, but its quality in not good bra matreials not good. When I was wraring this feels rough. If you have sensitive skin I don't recommend this brand.
This is so cool! I've always been interested in Japanese bras. Are you still in Japan? Where do you buy them online?
