Summary: encapsulation instead of compression, runs small in the band, great for close set breasts, strongly reduces bounce
I have searched for a functional sports-bra that both fits and handles bounce for the better part of four years at the minimum. I don't need maximum support all the time, but one to two weeks a cycle even my small breasts get extremely sensitive to any motion, even walking, so I basically couldn't exercise at all during those times. Everything I tried with an underwire spaced the wires too far apart for my close set breasts (this included the highly lauded Panache Sport) and everything without either didn't ...reduce bounce or relied too heavily on compression, which only caused me more pain. This Anita Active wireless bra fits everything I needed. I had to go one band size up, but the cup size is perfect for me, and it encapsulates instead of smashing my breasts. There are no gore issues and I have almost no bounce running or straight jumping, but there is still some pain (tolerable, but there) doing jumping jacks. The material is pleasantly thin and light, the shoulders are padded, and the cup lining was a big surprise: plush micro-terrycloth! The only negative there is that the lining is stretchy while the outer is firm, so the lining tends to get a little wrinkly unless you really work at moving it around after you put it on. I left some wrinkles visible in the picture so you can see what I mean, but it is only an aesthetic quibble; the material's texture helps keep the wrinkles from being felt at all and affecting comfort. Last little complaint: no J-hook to secure the straps in the back, but I haven't had any slippage yet, so it might not ever matter. Read more 197 more words
This was the second style of Anita bras that I tried during my big bra try on at my local specialty shop. The first one was the regular Momentum in the same size. The fitter was concerned about the strap placement and worried that they might fall off in my activity. To be honest, I don’t expect to be hugely active in the sports bras, as I mainly hope I can get back into walking more and maybe some core strengthening and general stretching/strengthening/minor cardio indoor stuff (I’m in the 15th floor so I can’t do anything that involves jumping). Part of the reason for the ...sports bra is the motivation...having the proper gear will motivate me to do more.
Anyway, this bra is basically a step up from the Momentum, as it’s got lightly padded cups and a faux j hook back which makes the straps more secure on my narrow and sloped shoulders.
I definitely think that it’s a better fit for me than the regular Momentum. I get a better shape with the lined cups, although it is a heavier feeling than the non lined ones. The faux j hook straps definitely anchored the bra on me better.
While I still prefer the fit of the Chantelle Sports Bra (see my reviews...I’ve got 3!), this one is definitely a possibility, however it would have to be really discounted because between this and the Chantelle at similar prices, the Chantelle wins. If I see a really good deal, I might get it. Read more 148 more words
Honestly, I think this one makes your boobs look bigger. :-P
I do like the colors on this one, but I agree that the chantelles look like they gave a better fit.
I totally agree MamaPagan! They look so big! Also a bit too east west for me.
veggiechic thanks for confirming what I and the fitter thought with the Chantelle being best.
Any thoughts or agreements between this one and the original momentum in terms of fit and look? Does one appear better than the other?
Personally I think this one looks like it is providing you better support. Sports bras are tough!
I do too, veggiechic. The Chantelle (which is also the same basically as Panache and Fit Fully Yours) is the best fit and shape, then this then the other one. Through the straps of the Panache I tried were better than the Fit Fully Yours, it was also a 32DD bs 30F Fit Fully Yours. And the Fit Fully Yours, like the Chantelle, have adjustable j hooks and the Panache was fixed and it was too high for me.
My shape: slightly wide, slightly tall roots with splayed shape, evenly full top and bottom, slightly center-full. close-set at the top. I need a fair amount of projection at the wire. My best fitting sizes are 34G/36FF in Panache.
It's a well-made bra, with single-layer molded, but not padded, cups and 4 hooks. The back is a perforated cottony material. There are reflective strips on the wings. The cup material has a pattern of little silver metallic dashes on a black ground. For some reason my camera made it look like the silver changes color, but it actually doesn't, at least not that I noticed. The ...straps are padded in front and over the shoulders, which is nice but it also limits the adjustability.
I'd say the band fits tts; this band is too loose on me and I needn't have sized up as I often do in sports bras. The cups are too large for me, but at the same time are too shallow near the gore. My center fullness pushes the gore away from my chest. This would only be worse with a smaller size so I'm won't be trying this one again.
With very close-set breasts, I have the challenge of trying to find a plunge sports bra. This Air Control Deltapad seems like it might just be what I am looking for.
Despite sounding like it's about to land an attack wing in your lingerie drawer, the Deltapad is actually a triangular sling-like piece of fabric that holds your breast in place. Over that is a mesh cup that provides the coverage you would expect from a sports bra. This means that while technically the gore height of this bra is 16 cm, most of that is mesh that is not aiming to press against your chest ...wall. The functional gore is a shaped portion of the lower gore that is about 5 cm high. So, it's like a firm holding plunge bra with a layer of mesh over the top holding everything together that much more. A view of the inside of the bra makes all this a little clearer.
I did some jump testing and the level of "command and control" seemed to be all I need for running. If you're going to do something more intense, this might not be enough. I found the band a very snug fit and plan to use an extender at first. Overall, it's a very comfortable bra. And so much better than the uni-boob binder I have usually ended up with. Interesting design. I've never seen these before. Thanks for the review
I loved the idea of this bra but had trouble finding a good fit with enough control for my HIIT workouts. I agree band is very firm but the stretch overlay seemed pretty forgiving!
I took it out on the road today for a test jog and it worked well. Everything stayed where I wanted it too and I mostly didn't think about it. The straps were comfortable and didn't bind my shoulders as I pumped my arms.
I wore it for a while before going out (because I always have to have a little conversation with myself about actually going for a run) and it was comfortable for that extended period too. I am using an extender right now.
I always did not want to were sports bras because the racer back straps caused me pain. This bras has a U shaped back and does not convert to racer but still provides excellent support. The straps do not bother my shoulders and is very comfortable. The fabric is thin breathable mesh so great to sweat in. It is non padded so your nipples will show though it. I am close set but splayed so my boobs do not like to create cleavage so this bra does separate them but others might have problems. Each side has space for a breast unlike a compression sport bra where its ...all just one space. I was unsure what size to get. Many people seem to go up a band size down a cup size for sport bras. My usual size is 30:7 this bra is 32:5. The band is too big, I can easily fasten all 4 hooks on the tightest setting. As for cup size I am unsure if this is the best fit because I did not try other sizes but it fits good enough for my mid-inpact work out. The bra looks more red in person rather then the bright orange in the photos. Read more 109 more words
Band: feels tight, no wire, so fabric of band touches and hugs my rib cage, but roles up all the way around body Gore: There is no gore the whole bra is a complete uni-bra on me Cups: there is slight spillage at the top of the bra from my left, larger breast, but as there is all that extra room in the middle of the bra, it fits quiet well otherwise and feels fine. It fits the side of the breasts very well. Straps: There is no adjustment on the straps, but they fit. My only comment would be that they feel a bit tight at the back ...of the shoulder (after an hour or two they have left an indent of the clasp on my back) while at the same time they feel a little loose at the front, just above the apex of the strap. Otherwise, overall they feel okay, but if I had the option I would experiment with the length to find something that felt a bit more comfortable.
This bra feels very supportive, if a bit small. Read more 75 more words
I now own 2 Anita Sport bras and I love them both.
This one is more maximum support than my other one(Light and Firm) and is definitely suited to high impact sports like running.
I find them bigger in the cup than my Ewa's - I can get away with a 30F no problem. Maybe because there's no wires Yayy!! (I'd never wear wires to the gym) and I like the girls held close to home in the gym.
Unlike Shick Absorbers, the bands are TTS. NB I tried Shock Absorbers in 30 bands and I couldn't even get them done up. So, warning. If you're going to buy those, be prepared to go up 2 band sizes. They're brutally small.
They have regular bra backs, which I like because it avoids the Cirque de Soleil routines needed to pull a sweaty sport bra off over your head.
I posted my Chantelle sports bra reviews. Now I’m left to finish the try on last Friday with the Anita bras I tried. Will have to wait until my phone chargers up some and I have a bite to eat.

oh, this sports bra looks amazing! I need to check this out ASAP. Thanks for sharing April.
rachaelll I got it on amazon.ca for about $40!!! I paid $90 for my other one at my local bratique :/
This is a nice sport bra that provides shaping and support without additional padding. Somewhat confusingly, the removable tags said this is model 5537 while the inner tags said 5527. I believe it is truly a 5527 because it is not a racerback style like the 5537.
I decided to size up in the band from my usual 34F size, as I am not planning to use it for high impact exercise and I frequently find sports bra bands to be tight. The band fits snugly on me in a 36. This bra comes in EU sizing, so pay attention when ordering, especially if you are above a D cup. The label calls this an F in every country's sizing scheme, but most bra size conversion charts say that an EU 80F is equivalent to a UK 36E. I found it to fit similarly to my Panache sport bra in 36E.
This is not a pretty bra, but it has firm, excellent support, full coverage, and the inside is lined in a very soft (looks and feels like suede) but breathable fabric. This is a very comfortable bra that I can wear for running and/or everyday use. Its high neckline eliminates the quadboob problem for me, but can't be worn under any low cut tops or dresses. I think the fitter grabbed this one because my larger boob was spilling out the top of all of the prettier, lower cut ones.
This is the first bra-sized (i.e., not SML sized) sports bra I've bought and it is fantastic. The cups run quite small, as I normally wear a 34E and I bought a 34G in this bra. I can run and jump and do all sorts of things in this bra and my boobs never budge, which is exactly how a sports bra should work. Overall a very functional and comfortable bra. And it comes in purple!
I made an impulsive buy & I regret it. This sports bra seems to be good quality but I order the wrong size cup- & band wise! The band is very firm, so don't go down, or you couldn't fasten it like me! The too short band made the bra really uncomfortable. The cup size is a little bit smaller for me (it's a true european I cup!) so the appearance is kinda poor. I will return or sell it.
For reference, I am petite (5'1") and shallow, wide-set with slightly tuberous breasts.
This is a fairly new bra. Even during the first wearing, I had to wear this bra on the middle hook. I was told to go with a 32 band because the band is firm. I hope there won't be too much stretching. I'm also not accustomed to wearing a bra that has three hooks in each column, even for a sports bra.
Maybe the band issues are due to my height? I feel like the bra is meant for someone much taller based on the length of the bra from apex to the band. The cups wrinkle on the bottom. If I had more torso (ie, I was a few inches taller?), maybe this wouldn't be an issue?
I've worn this bra for my rebounding workouts. It's comfortable and supportive during a high-intensity workout.
I'm not really sure why I was given an 80D instead of a 75E/F, but I guess it fits okay...? If you're looking for UK sizes, be warned that Bratabase has used a conversion and UK sizes are NOT listed on the label.
I don't really need a high-impact sports bra because I only walk/stretch, but the sales associate DID ask me what impact level I wanted, so I can only assume she had her reasons for giving me this one...it's just that unfortunately, I don't have any way of telling how good it actually IS for high-impact activities.
Supposedly the color of this bra ...is black/gray, but in certain lights the gray looks more like a mint green. The straps vary between 1.5-4cm width. I like the mesh panels on the side of the bra, and it seems like it would travel well https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> I just wish it had wires, because personally I find wireless bras to be more uncomfortable.
EDIT: It turns out I really did need a different size. I thought the bra fit okay because there was nothing obviously wrong during the fitting session, but I tried to wear it today and noticed I'm actually getting a little bit of underboob escaping...it's just covered up by the band of the bra because this is a wireless without any molded cups. :\ Read more 130 more words
I like this bra a lot! The gores don’t tack perfectly on any of the underwired sports bras that I’ve tried (Freya, Panache, and Prima Donna - you can check my profile for reviews). So I decided to try this wireless Anita Active](brand:654) bra.
I don’t know if I’ll wear the bra out and about because I feel like I look really flattened. BUT for exercise, this is not a bad thing at all! Everything stays in place for working out with minimal bouncing. I don’t feel like I have terrible uniboob, although my breasts do scooch a little closer ...together after exercising since there isn’t a wired gore. The cups do not stretch.
The inside front of the bra is lined with a soft terry cloth material that is comfortable and keeps the sweat from getting out of control. The sides/back are mesh so the bra doesn’t feel too bulky or hot. The straps are wide in front, which helps with support/comfort, but the elastic portion of the straps in the back is more narrow so they aren’t bulky. I wish the straps had a J-hook, but they are comfortable and don’t slide off my shoulders even without one.
I really love this hot pink colorway. It’s bright and fun.
Overall, this is a great sports bra. If you’re looking for something wireless and fit Anita’s size range, then you should give this bra a try, especially if you can find it on sale. Read more 144 more words
This is an awesome sports bra. It gives a great shape and excellent support without any discomfort. I've worn it many, many times, and it has aged well. It's light and breathable. Sometimes the band loosens too much and the breasts start to pull over the front elastic; a wash fixes it. Still going strong after 7 years!
Had I not gotten this on sale I'd have returned it. But, it stays in place on the loosest hooks, and does a good job reducing bounce when I jog. The sheer surface of the cups also makes it a great everyday t-shirt bra. The shoulder straps are a bit too far apart and cut in near my armpit if I were to reach my arm out ahead of me. I do like that it does not feel bulky- the fabric of the cups is kind of unusual- it appears like a microfiber cloth on the inside, with a satin-y finish on the outside. It has a sort ...of perforated-for-breathability look on the cups and the band, too. There's no foam in the cups, which I like. Only the shoulder straps have a bit of foam padding. I had to put the shoulder straps on the shortest possible adjustment from the get-go, so that will likely have to be altered when the elastic wears out. I feel that the D cups are slightly too small for me, just barely reaching the ribs on the sides- however, there's a bit of wrinkling at the tops of the cups, which likely would have been worse if I'd tried the E cup. Band is comfortable and stretchy (not super firm like some sports bras). The straps are comfortable and well positioned. However, the cups are a little too tall by my arm and would rub with activity. This is definitely a light/medium activity sports bra, despite the name.
I'm adding this to my wish list. I use the shock absorber, but the compression isn't always what I'm after when things are sensitive post ovulation.
