I didn't intend to like this bra this much, but I do like it a lot. The band is really comfy yet snug despite being a 30 on my 26-inch ribcage; the regular elastic at the bottom of the band is supported by a wide band of more-stretchy elastic, so it feels really supportive. Somehow, the underwires never lift from my ribcage, even when I sit up straight and push my shoulders down and back, which usually guaranteed wire slippage in even the tightest of bras (it is currently a mystery why this happens). I really appreciate the boning in the side and the hard underwires. The fabric ...quality is so-so, which I expect from Asos; there aren't any defects per se but the middle straps are unadjustable and the fabric, though soft, just feels slightly cheap. The hardware is tackygold-colored but not too tacky. All in all it's still very cute.
The cups have a lot of lift for something with one horizontal seam (though my breasts are self-supporting, so it's not like they had to do much work) and only cut in a tiny bit. They're not very projected at the apex, which is excellent for me, and the cups have some stretch to them. The unnecessary straps in the middle are really cute and actually lay flat most of the time, a marvel for unadjustable straps. (The actual straps are half-adjustable.) The wire width is also perfectly for me, although the cup coverage and wing height on the side are a bit low, which is probably due to some recent growth on my part, so I should probably be getting a 30D next time. I was hoping that this would be my perfectly average normal black bra, but when I opened the package from ASOS, I thought they'd given me the wrong size, as the cups were twice as big as the ones I have normally. The label did indeed say 30C but I wouldn't be surprised if there were some sort of manufacturing error involved.
The wires were terribly wide, which actually didn't bother me; what was bothersome was the giant gap near the gore in both cups. I don't even think water balloons of any size would be able to fill them in, so severe and abrupt were the gaps. Other than that, the bra was what I was looking for, no surprises or anything. There are three rows of hooks, which was a nice surprise.
The only reason I bought this bra on Asos was because I am shamelessly fond of uselessly strappy bras and I don't own any at all, and this was on sale, so.
But! It was an unexpectedly good fit. The material of the cups is satin with stitches running across the cups all over, making for a super fun texture. As you can see, the straps didn't quite work out as I'd hoped; they kind of cross over each other in unappealing ways and the diagonal strap kept pushing down the lace edge of the cup. I ended up using that diagonal strap as a sort of seatbelt for ...my cup and that worked out fine. The fit was very good, wires slightly too wide for me but pretty comfy, and plenty of support. Because of the strap wonkiness and also the act that the edge of the cup was a seam where to layers of lace joined, there was a visible bump under most shirts. The band was not your typical tight zigzag-stitched elastic; the entire band was a supple band of elastic kind of like the kind people use for bandages. This made the bra exceptionally comfy and was still tight enough, or me, anyway. I have a very high loose-band tolerance, though. Read more 106 more words
Another bra that I got for aesthetics and not for practicality. It came as a set on sale. The fit is nice and the lace is soft and not itchy. Straps are fully adjustable. There is partial padding on the outer edges of the cups which I imagine is to give your boobs a slight lift. The shape this bra gives is pointy on me and so it's hard to wear under any stretchy or thin fabrics. Since the lace on the bra is double layered there was slight wrinkling on the top edge of the cup for me (and I have one slightly smaller breast). Honestly it didn't look as good on me as I would have hoped and might look better on a fuller breast or bigger cup. Otherwise it was a good value~
Did the band sit so low on the back naturally or is it because the band is too large for you? It looks like it has the potential to be a decent fit if the band was firm and sitting in a straight line horizontally around your torso.
