My very favorite of the bras I recently ordered from Avocado (including RV Calypso and HC Chamade). The band is perfect, the gore is super thin and the wires are quite narrowish, staying in my IMF all day. There is a good amount of room for me both at the bottom of the cup and near the center gore. I used to think that the reason I don’t get a well-tacking gore in Comexim (unless it’s altered to overlap) was due to the soft wires, but the wires on this bra are equally if not more flexible and tack perfectly… I now understand that that might be more ...of a center projection issue. The cups on this are perfect, except for some minor wrinkling on the sides as a result of the wire channels being taller than the underwires themselves. The shape is round and beautifully uplifted! The materials feel exquisite… the fabric of the bra overall has very little stretch, so it feels like it will last a long time and hold up to wear nicely. Beneath a t-shirt, there's a vague hint of raised lines caused by the pleats, but it's subtle and doesn't personally bother me. Read more 92 more words
Where did you order these avocados from? They're beautiful. I'm so glad you posted these pics & measurements too. Avocado is EU sizing right? Do they have their own sizing system? This would have been my best guess at a size in Avocado but all of the 65Gs you've posted would be huge on me. Do they do 60 bands?
lcl0706 So glad to be of help, I wasn't able to find much info on the brand myself before placing an order! I ordered direct from Avocado's E-shop... they accept Paypal and it was pretty straightforward, just like ordering from Ewa or Comexim. I *think* it's most comparable to EU sizing, but without any double letters. I suspect there's larger than a 1 inch increment between cups, because normally I'd need 65H in EU. They do have 60 bands. Here's an older fit guide from Miss Underpinnings who wears a 60H:
"Super thin gore"!!! Is the gore base thinner than others, too? Hoping, praying, crossing my fingers :-) Thanks for your review, VioletIridescence
Oops. Is the gore base more narrow than others? "Thinner" wires might help create a more narrow gore base ;-)
Love4Pollinators It's quite a bit more narrow at the base than my 30FF Cleo Marcie, and very slightly more narrow than my 30G SM Wanilla. I just did a quick visual comparison but can take measurements if you'd like :)
It looks great! Is it unlined, I can't quite tell?
I'd sincerely appreciate measurements of the distance between the wires at the base. Thank you! :-) :-)
VioletIridescence thank you for the pointers! I have seen Miss Underpinnings guide but I've yet to be able to find a guide for their new lettering system - like what's RV? Isn't there an NF or NV or something like that? Not sure they even do A, K, and H anymore.
If Miss Underpinning's is wearing a 60H, and you're in a 65G.... you both are 1-2 cup sizes larger than me. Ugh. I would love to try one some day, especially Calypso or this one. I love all 3 you've posted. But the price and lack of fit knowledge and sizing kind of scares me. I'm thinking I'd need a 60G, maybe. I hate to get something expensive and be stuck with it. Maybe I'll ask Aisha at Zathiya if she can ballpark my size based on my current Comexim and EM sizes, since she's stocking a few Avocados these days.
lcl0706 I believe RV is the successor of the old A and K cuts, and that NF is based on the old H cut... but having never tried those in the first place I'm not exactly sure either! The unlined halfcups are newer as far as I can tell. Yep, maybe consult Aisha and see what she has to say... maybe she can illuminate all the cuts and sizing much better!
Love4Pollinators Okay here's a quick sample from some other bras that also fit me! Avocado Caprice: 1.3" Curvy Kate Bardot 30G: 1.5" SM Wanilla 65G : 1.6" Cleo Marcie 30FF: 1.8"
lcl0706 I have an older Avocado unpadded bra that fits in 60G, but no idea if the new models come in the same sizing. I'd say that would be a good size for you to start with. It fits me on the roomy end with slightly too tight band.
This was my first ever Avocado order, so determining sizing was a bit of a shot in the dark! Avocado's size table put me in between 60H and 65G, so I went for the 65G in fear that the 60 band would be too tight. In reality, this band is a little too loose on me (I'm starting on the last hook straight off the bat). The wires are on the average-wide side in this model-- too wide for my roots, but excellent for someone who loves Polish bras but can't normally wear them due to the narrow wires. The (ultra narrow!) gore is quite high, but ...after bending it outward ever so slightly the bra is comfortable for a full day of wear. I ordered the RV style hoping for a more rounded shape than the NF; unfortunately I'm not quite filling out the the top of the cups and have quite a bit of wrinkling on my smaller side. Over the course of the day, my boobs sort of settle in the bottom of the cups and the shape goes from roundish to more triangular. I think that this issue is worsened by the extra slack in the band, and is not necessarily characteristic of the RV shape as a whole... this bra would probably fit much better on someone in the 30G/32FF UK range.
As for the design, I have no criticism whatsoever. Jade green mesh, mauvey-taupe accents, and fan-shaped embroidery with shimmery turquoise threads... so unique and so beautiful! The materials and entire construction of the bra feels very high quality. I love Calypso so much I'll probably list this bra and consider re-ordering if I can get a better understanding of sizing. This was the first Avocado I fell in love with. I still haven't taken the plunge and ordered it but you're making me think I should. I don't understand the different shapes though.
thank you for all the reviews. I took the plunge yesterday and ordered calypso in the NF style, hope it'll fit.
My first Avocado bra and it fits! I had no clue about sizing, but the measurements, the research and the helpful advice of a friendly boob twin all worked out well in the end. My lovely Aurora came to me as a swap with kind revisa : Operation French / Polish. lol About the construction of the bra: narrow / high gore, narrow wires, deep, close set 3 piece cups with plenty of projection, tight band. It works as a full cup on me and doesn't cut into my tall roots. I am very satisfied with both the quality of ...fabrics used and the rounded shape it gives. I don't think this baby was used much if at all and is a tiny bit tight in the band, which will probably be just perfect with some wear. The fabric of the cups is flexible enough to match my size assymetry, so the smaller breast is not swimming in the cup. It is always very exciting for me to receive a bra from a new (for me) brand and I am over the stars that it fits at first attempt.
Thank you DressTheTwins - I am really happy with this one. :)
I am pretty sure this was originally mine way back and it looks totally amazing on you!! I did not have such luck with it. I am such an Avocado fangirl of course. It's giving you such an awesome profile/shaping!
Yes it was kerniss ! Thank you. :) It is a great surprise that it fits so well, so I suppose I am becoming an Avocado fangirl myself.
The pictures don't do proper justice to the gorgeous color. It's this lovely metallic blue under black lace. There's a velvet strip at the very top of the cups. The top of the cups and the bottom of the band are decorated in soft lace (which doesn't irritate my sensitive skin!) which sticks out from the bra and the body.
I'm never quite sure what to make of half-cups or how to check their fit versus a plunge bra, but this seems to fit great. The inside of the cups is soft and secure-feeling. The cups are gloriously narrow for a half-cup and ...fit me well. I don't feel like I've got dangerous levels of boob hanging out (as has been a worry in an Ewa Michalak half-cup) but it's still very nicely low-cut--I need to buy some scoop-neck tops!
It's also a very secure bra. It doesn't staple my boobs to my chest but it does keep them very nicely in-place, while I feel a more bouncy in my Ewa half-cup. Although that's probably because the Ewa half-cup had a slightly stretched-out band, and this bra's band is a pretty great length for me, very nicely firm.
A+ bra, I highly recommend it to my boob-twin. If you're narrow, FOT-to-even, center-full, and at least moderately projected, this might be a pretty good bra for you. Read more 121 more words
Powdery blue semi-sheer lace over a pale mauve background… beautiful! This functions almost as a nude for me under some light colored clothing. As a lover of unlined halfcups (especially the tragically discontinued Ewa Michalak HM!), I had to try this! The neckline cuts low and squarish across my boobs, very Marie Antoinette looking. The lace used on the cups has a good amount of stretch, so I think it will be very accomodating to size fluctuations throughout the month. There’s a thin elasticated edge on the cups, which leads me to believe that this style is geared more toward the FOB crowd, but it’s just fine on my even shape. The band fits well on the second set of hooks, and the profile is round and a bit minimized from the side. It’s super comfortable to wear!
I really want to love this bra. It disappeared under my T-shirt. It’s a good color for me, not too light or pink. But the gore and the cups are tall for me. The gore is also too wide to be comfortable. I have quite a bit of inner fullness and am close set. It’s just a little too much bra. The band is snug for measuring 30” when stretched, its two layers of stretchy mesh.
This bra in this size is no longer available/sold out: I came to own it because I recently ordered the Avocado Camelia (S174F) in both 65G & H, and needed to return the too-big H. On doing so I happened to mention I loved the look of the Kyoto and was sad that it wasn't in my size to request an exchange ... and Avocado promptly sewed me up a brand new Kyoto in the caramel colourway!
Sadly, despite the 65G Camelia fitting me as if it was tailor-made, the Kyoto is far, far too small.
The band runs quite firm on this one: I tried it ...with the full length of an extender and the tension felt about right (but with the proper cup size perhaps it wouldn't feel so tight?).
The cups are so small on me it's almost painful. I get the most crazy puckering/pulling up the length of the lower vertical seam, the top edge of the cup cuts in to give me true quadboob, and I also get breast tissue pushed out the side of the cup into my armpit.
The wires are quite narrow; I'd need the proper cup depth to judge whether they're too narrow for me or not.
The bra itself is lovely: a sheer caramel coloured mesh, two layers in the lower half of the cup and a single layer along the top edge. The cherry blossom embroidery lays as flat as flat can be. Read more 138 more words
Ordering with Avocado's sizing (they use a 4cm rather than a 1 inch increment in their cup sizing) proved a little tricky. For my 30FF breasts, I ordered both the 65G and the 65H**. The H is at least one and a half cup sizes too large, but the G is pretty much perfect. There's the *tiniest* fraction of gapping on the larger breast, so tiny I'm not actually sure it's there and isn't just an illusion produced by the lace overlaying the thicker cup lip; if it is there, it's probably just an artefact of my being a little shallow on top.
The cups ...have good immediate projection, so they're FOB-friendly, and unlike a lot of other half-cups they don't flatten my breasts out wide and minimised. It's not as forward as, say, an EM half-cup, but it's not bad. The wires on this are wide, so anyone lusting after an EM bra who can't face her narrow wires, this would be a good alternative!
The straps are only partly adjustable, which isn't a problem for me; what does concern me is that they don't have any decoration or stitching to stop the extenders sliding, so I'm not sure how they'll hold up once they've got a bit of wear in them.
The band is pretty firm, I could easily have gone with a 70; consider sizing up in the band if you don't like your bras tight.
** To guess my size, I put on my best-fitting bra with the most forward projection (Freya Arabella) to take my overbust measurement, and then used the sizing chart on Avocado's website (http://avocado.com.pl/en/content/6-fit-guide), which put me in between 65G and 65H. The website recommends choosing the larger size if you're in between, but the smaller G worked far better for me. Read more 194 more words
This review was very helpful. I am now considering an Avocado purchase, whereas before I assumed their wires would be too narrow for my 30F/FF breasts. I actually can wear EM's 65F in Pl and 3D.
Glad it helped - they make beautiful bras! I don't know what their wire widths are like on their balconnette styles - it seems the wires on halfcups are always wider than on unlined styles, even in the Polish brands. But I have the Kyoto in the mail as my exchange for the 65H in this style, so I'll be able to report how Avocado's unlined style works in comparison to their half ups when it arrives.
Are you going to try their plunges, if they have any? I have to wear plunges because of no space between the boobs.
I'm the same, absolutely zero space between the boobs - even the Marcie's gore is too wide for me. Very frustrating. I'd love to try Avocado's K cut, which I think is probably their plunge, but honestly I suspect all the Polish bras have good gores for close-set breasts. It might depend on tissue firmness, but I found the gore on this bra pretty perfect. The Kyoto I have coming is, I think, the A cut.
The bra fits perfectly, I would consider it 100% if it wasn't for the fact that the strappy part has an elastic band that can be uncomfortable onthe neck. I would like it better if they were just attached to the straps.
I felt in love as soon as I saw it on the page, and was hesitating between the RV and the NF model. I tried an HC bra in 65F and couldn’t decide what size to get neither. So after researching I decided that the NF was to pointy for me and ordered my suggested size: 65G. I’d say it’s the most accurate for my shape of the Avocado bras, but the gore it’s a bit too high. I definitely love it
Aesthetically, it's elegant, classic, and understated. The unique color combo of the powder blue paired with the pink-taupe is striking & lovely. I am coming to appreciate that in beauty & wearability, Avocado has yet to disappoint!
True to its Polish characteristics, the wires are wonderfully narrow which suits my fairly narrow roots. The gore is a bit too wide for my breasts, but it isn't a deal-breaker. The cups are constructed of two layers of fabric: the bottom layer (which lays against the skin) is made of a sturdy, thin, taupe material, while the top layer is made of a soft, powdery ...blue lace. The cups stretch well & seem to nicely accommodate for my asymmetry & for my projected shape.
I would like to note that after a bit of research, I decided to go with the 65G (30:7) rather than my usual 30:8 because I had read that the cups typically run large in this brand. I found this to be true! While I usually can't go any smaller than a 30:8 or 30:9 in other Polish & UK brands, I would definitely be swimming in a bigger cup than the 30:7. I would just keep that in mind if you are considering this bra (or many others from this brand). Read more 120 more words
This really great quality bra came from a swap. Cup volume is ideal, gives a rounded shape, good lift, narrow wires. Band is too tight for comfort without an extender. Strap separation too wide for me - this is not a problem I run into too often. I get some wrinkling on my smaller side, but with about an inch of extension in band I can get a pretty good fit. Thank you VioletIridescence! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
The band on this bra definitely runs tight, stretching just over 28" whereas my 65G Chamade stretches to 30." I was only a little bit disappointed to find that Amber isn't really gold as it's described on Avocado's website... in person it's more of a caramel-beige color with a slight sheen; it could be a great neutral for someone with tan skin. The wings and upper portion of the cup are sheer mesh with beautiful swirl embroidery. The cup really doesn't have much stretch, and I think very FoB shapes might struggle to fill out the upper section. The gore also has a keyhole detail covered with the same sheer mesh. The bra is a little more full coverage than I would expect for a half-cup; to me it almost looks more like a traditional balconette, although it does give a high, round purple shape from the side.
Another beautiful bra. The band is snug but comfortable. The cups are relatively comfortable. The gore comes up higher than what I would typically prefer. It pokes me a bit. And the cups are slightly wide under the armpits on me. I haven't worn the bra enough hours though to decide if it will be a real problem. The cups create a rounded, natural shape and have decent lift.
I LOVE this bra. I just wish it didn't come up so high on the armpit. That can make it uncomfortable. The cups are a non-stretch mesh, so they support very well. Gives a great shape.
Just not compatible with my shape at all. The wires sit below where my breast tissue sits, regardless of what I do with the straps. There is a HUGE empty space at the top, too. This may work better for more projected girls, but I honestly have no idea. Shame, because it's a beautiful bra.
I absolutely love everything about this bra. It is a perfect fit for even/FOT, narrow-set, and projected breasts. It gives a very beautiful, natural shape. I actually gaped when I tried it on and saw it on myself, which just doesn't happen normally. Can't recommend this enough to girls with a similar shape.
This is a really lovely bra that works well for even/FOT breasts. The little details are so beautiful. The lace is somewhat sheer and the silk on the top is gorgeous. It does look like a bridal bra, but I don't mind at all.
That's such a beautiful bra! I love the ornate detail.
