This bra fits very well and is the first balconette style I have owned. I don't know why I tried it on several times before buying it. I guess the lace had me concerned that it would show, but I really don't know why I worry about that so much since I mostly wear t-shirts and don’t wear a lot of white. I do get a very tiny gap near the gore on my right breast which is a bit smaller than the left, it's such a small gap it is only noticeable when I move my arms in certain position or am actively trying ...to see if I get any gapping. I just wish I had bought it sooner and that I could have worn it out of the store. I think this is the first bra I've had that the underwire doesn't get pushed down, it's great to have wire that stays at the IMF. This is probably my best fitting bra with my Parfait Charlotte in a close second (Charlottes band is a bit tight otherwise it's a great fit). I do think that the cups may run large on this bra and a bit on the small side (perfect for me since most 32's are a bit loose and 30's a bit tight), since I don't fit in many 32DD bras including other Betsey Johnson styles Read more 129 more words
My first attempt at finding a well fitting bra without adding inches to the band measurement to get my size. I tried on dozens of bras at Nordstroms and only found a few that seemed to fit my wide root/shallow breasts. The Betsey Johnson Stocking Stripe bra was the best fit by far for me. I've been wearing 34/36 A and B cups for decades and could never understand why I couldn't find anything that fit right. I've got excess tissue under my armpit that is finally in a wire wide enough to encompass it. There is a very slight quadboob effect on ...my larger breast in the 32DD of the Betsey Johnson Stocking Stripe. The 32DDD that I tried on fit perfectly but I was afraid that I wouldn't like how high the side goes up on the larger cup (possible chafing), so I'm trying out the 32DD for now to get used to my new fit. I'm anticipating the need to go up to a 32DDD in a few months anyway, so this has been a good place to start for me. For the first time ever, I fill up the inside of the cup and there is no gaping on the top edge of the bra. These bras are so comfortable and I'm loving the colors. I'm so sad to see that this bra is now discontinued and is being clearanced out of many online stores. My only slight con so far with these bras is that I get some creaking noises from them when I bend or twist my torso. It's very minor, though, so it's not a big deal to me. Read more 180 more words
Great fit, though it felt a bit tight at first I know it will stretch a bit soon with wear and wash. I just switched to 32DD/34D from wearing 36B/C cups and that is also why it feels so tight in comparison.
For having seemingly even, inner full breasts, the line of the cup is right near/at the fullest part of my boobs. Despite this, quad boob is almost nonexistent even after a proper swoop and scoop. The Gore tacks nicely and is very comfortable.
The wire is nice and wide and long, it goes past my armpit which is very comfortable for my wide roots. I can't believe I was trying to squeeze into B cups for the last 10+ years, even if the band size was 36.
The style is cute, I love the partially transparent wings and band with the opaque striping.
I'm glad you like the Betsey Johnson Stocking Stripe. I have been a Betsey Johnson fan for a long time and I have owned multiple bras in that brand. The band will indeed stretch out over time as Betsey Johnson bras are known that. Also, the Stocking Stripe runs larger in the cup than some other styles so if you are looking for other Betsey Johnson bras, try them in 32DD and 32DDD just in case.
Thanks for the comment and recommendation for DDDs on the other Betsy Johnson styles. It completely makes sense, I really liked another Betsy Johsnon Balconet style bra but found in 32DD and 34D it wasn't quite large enough in the cups. I couldn't find it in a 34DD or 32DDD to try.
As far as I know, the only styles that come in 32DDD are the Retro Glamour and the Forever Perfect Demi bra.
Ah, great to know. I've added them to the list of styles to check out.
This was a desperate impulse buy from Nordstrom Rack. I was excited by how pretty it looked and how comfortable it felt in the dressing room. Unfortunately, it doesn't remain so comfortable with regular wear. Basically, the cups are laughably wide and shallow and not suited to my shape in the least. Swoop and scoop doesn't work because it doesn't fit well enough to keep the tissue in place. When I do swoop and scoop, I end up with some quad-boob. The straps are VERY stretchy and not fully adjustable. I was able to wear it for a little while with it hooked into a racerback, but that ...put too much pressure near my neck. Despite the gore being low, it still pokes me. The band fit okay for me when I purchased it: it wasn't as firm as I would like, but I didn't have to fasten it on the tightest hook to get it tight enough - if that makes any sense.
Overall this would be a bra to try if you have wide, shallow breasts, if you're shoulders aren't narrow or sloping, and if you like/don't mind very thin, stretchy straps. It didn't give me much uplift, so it wouldn't be very good for that. I might still use it when I need a plunge bra, but it certainly isn't suited to everday wear for me. Read more 120 more words
Probably one of the best fitting bras for shallow & wide breasts. Really gives you a pushup without being a VS bombshell bra. It was a little tight when I first purchased, but after a month it fit me like a glove!
I really like this bra, which surprised me, as my last Betsey Johnson was far from my favorite (itchy lace and always showing through my shirt). This bra is a push up plunge which I find quite suitable for my tall roots. The cups, in particular are absurdly soft and do not show through shirts. I have only had it for about a month and a half so I cannot speak to its longevity, but my fingers are crossed!
I really wanted to love this bra forever but when you know better, you do better. I figured out that I am short rooted and have a lot of immediate projection. As a result, my breasts were/are pushing the cups down and the wires out of my IMF. The bra itself is very cute and I love the tone on tone of the purple dots. The bra is also generally comfortable. I would recommend if you have a more shallow shape.
I am loving this bra. It has the perfect combination of gore width, band support and push-up for me. It is very comfortable, if a bit thick at the push up part, and my breasts are VERY happy in it.
This bra probably would have fit had I gone down to a 30D or 30DD. The band in this one is very stretchy, so it rode up a bit on me, and the cup was definitely way too big for me. I got mine for free from someone else, and even though it was new the underwire was already poking through, so that may be something to look out for quality-wise. Otherwise, it's pretty nice.
I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the Forever Perfect bra line. This bra was the first I'd tried on after determining my "true size" -- I fondly remember that first "holy crap" moment of bending over without any gapping, or having my boobs spilling out of the cups. At the time of these pictures I have been wearing this bra almost every day for two months, including for some pretty active, sweaty manual labor. The band has stretched less than half an inch -- I'm still fastening it on the loosest hooks. My body composition has changed since purchase, and am no longer a ...true 32DD. Currently leaning towards a 30 band, still trying to determine my new cup size.
The material is soft and silky smooth, characteristic of all the BJ bras I've tried. There's quite a bit of moldable memory-foam-like padding; back when I was a true 32DD, I was thrilled at the combination of containment and lift, with the low-to-moderate coverage I want. However, I think this bra might be better for someone whose breast tissue is self-supporting, or someone who is more shallow than I am (i.e., someone better-suited for moldable cups). The cup is is certainly deep enough in the middle to lift and support my tissue, but see how mine wrinkle at the bottom? That's partially because I have needed to size down for a while now, but also because my boobs stay pretty soft/pendulous for most of the month and haven't compressed the foam padding enough to mold it.
Ultimately, I still love this bra despite the fact that it no longer fits me *quite* right, and own it in three colors. It's a better fit around the time of my period, when my cystic breasts become larger and firmer. I think I paid about $12-17 for each bra on Amazon, which is a pretty outstanding deal in my book. A bit tight in the band compared to most 32s I've tried. Somewhat shallow in the cup for the 32DDs I've tried. Sturdy band and strap construction, and although I clearly need to size down, the cups molded well to my breasts. The underwire is just a smidge too wide for me, very close to matching my roots. However, the cup material is thin, and I suspect that with time the bottom of the cups will begin to fold in like the other Forever Perfect bras I've tried (push-up and strapless), regardless of whether you fill out the bottom of the cup or not.
This would make a great everyday/t-shirt bra - love the array of colors and patterns.
Grabbed another Retro Glamour on sale off of Herroom. This bra is so comfortable I barely know it's on, and the fit is all together perfect. I love the outrageous color design on this one (Pretty Kitty), but then I've always been a sucker for hot pink.
Found this lovely purple, pink, and yellow version of the Retro Glamour Demi (Gigi Floral colorway) on the clearance rack at Nordstrom's. It fit absolutely perfectly so I snapped it right up!
Much brighter pink then most online pictures show, almost neon pink. Fit is nearly perfect. Slight quadboob on larger breast. Wires are wide enough to encase the tissue under my armpit instead of squashing it. May have to go up a cup size after a few months as I have extra tissue that is finally in a bra cup that fits for the first time ever. Minor creaking noises from bra with sudden movements.
