A note: my tag on this one says AU11 although it *is* the Thea bra.
Thea is Bravissimo's non padded plunge bra, and I will say it does seem to suit a FOB shape as any upper fullness (if soft) will get cut in severely. It looks great tho, gives a slightly minimised look, and there's really not that much lift so it's more a natural shape.
The coverage is very plungey--meaning there's really not much of it which is fine. I wanted a plunge. However the cups are too small on my larger side and the lace is cutting in some. Like I said, if your tissue is soft ...and you have any upper fullness, this will happen. The lace has some give, so I think it would play really really well with firmer tissue.
The band is typical Bravissimo--a 28 is more of a slightly tighter 30. Bravissimo is often praised for being one of the rare manufacturers that does almost all their bras up to a 28KK or something, but to me that is deceptive... all Bravissimo bras I tried ran loose in the band. So a 28H is a very comfortably snug band on me. I think I gained some cm in the underbust too so that is very telling.
Wires are slightly on the wider side, but no problem for me. If I went up a cup size though, I think it would be too wide wires. I also think it would be much too large on my smaller side, as is obvious from the photos, it's already gaping slightly (that is not in cup quadding, but in fact the lace is completely loose on my smaller side).
I had this bra a long long time ago in a very wrong size but I liked it back then, which is why I set out on a mission to find it again. The bra is still very pretty and a non padded plunge that is actually a plunge with low gore is quite a find imho. I even like the shape it gives, but unfortunately, atm it doesn't seem to fit on my larger side which is a big issue for me right now--my asymmetry seems to have...increased? Can I use that word? The difference between the smaller and larger side seems to be bigger now whereas it was just a cup or two before, and it's greatly affecting the fit of any bra I try on these days. I was going to say I saw in cup quadding. Boy photos can be deceptive sometimes! Sorry hormone flux is increasing your asymmetry issue. :-/ Do you feel that is due to going off the pill?
I honestly don't know, I think it might take a while for my hormones to balance themselves out, couple of months at least. But if the larger side really continues growing I'm going to get an ultrasound just to make sure nothing funky is going on...
This is my second Bravissimo bra purchase and sadly I am disappointed by the fit. I wanted so much for this bra to work because it is so beautiful the pictures don’t do it justice.
The straps are purple and fully adjust, with soft elastic. There is a cute teal and tiger stripe bow where the cup meets the strap. The wires on this bra wrapped around to my back and were a little irritating because of this. There was also an inch of extra fabric tubing that the wire sits in under the arm. I could see this causing a problem with the wire pocking out of ...the fabric because of how the fabric pulls on this spot. The center gore is high typical of this shape of bra with another teal and tiger stripe bow in the center. Because the wires didn’t sit where they should be my breast got an East-West spread with flattening and it didn’t lift my breast up the way they should be. The band was nice and firm and I could actually wear it on the loosest set of hooks. There are three rows and three columns of hooks. Overall it is a very beautiful bra and I just love the colors, but because of the poor fit I will have to return this bra.
Material feels cheap. You could wear this for a swimsuit top, though, because the material is quite thick. Like many bras with higher apexes, because I am full on bottom, I have empty space on top. I also get slight quadding with this one.
Beautiful bra, that you could even wear as a bikini top! It would probably work better for FOT or even fullness. Top of cup is high, and my FOB won't work here. Band runs small, as with most Bravissimo, it seems.
This is the first bra I have tried which isn’t too high under the arm pits. Some bras stick out everywhere. It’s not quite as supportive as some but great for wearing with singlet tops / shoe string dresses etc. it’s a smidgen too small in the cup for me and sadly doesn’t come in a 28hh. If only as would be so perfect!
This is my favorite bra. Ever. I love this bra so much. The pink and black is classic and adorable. I love the y-shaped cleavage I get with this bra and it passes the t-shirt test. Nothing pokes or prods and my boobs feel secure all day (I work a pretty difficult job). I feel great wearing this and I wish I had this in every color. The only thing I wish is that the foam in the cup wouldn't wrinkle and then stay kinked even while being stretched out by my boobs.
Let me start just by saying this bra is gorgeous. The bows are precious, as are the polka dots, and it just has this lovely French motif to it. I just adore how cute it is. However, unfortunately, if you're petit you might want to avoid this one. The center gore is really high and the wires on the cups almost touch my back if I stretch a certain way. The cups don't quite fill the way I want them to and there's a bit of wrinkling at the top. I tried it in a 28GG and there was wrinkling near the top but I think it's just because it doesn't really match my breast shape the best. It's probably better for full on top breasts or people that have less firm tissue than I do. It just appears to be too tall for me overall. I don't have any problems with any other bravissimo brand bras, so I suppose I will just mourn the fact that this doesn't fit me well.
Too elastic wires and really short band. Cups are deeper than in my other (well-fitted) bras, but wires ends at my back and a big part of cup is under my armpit, so there's not enough space for boobs. I really like the look, but it's unwearable in this size.
Tight on the back, which is great for me as a small uk 28 (I need a 26 back really). True to size in the cups. Similar to Panache. Great support and lift. Lovely round shape. My best fitting bra yet!
When I bought this, I ordered one cup size up from my Deco size, which seemed to be the right size, but the wires were a bit too, which created an odd flattened shape from the side under clothing. I could live with it at the time, because the color was so pretty--I got the royal blue one-- and it looked good on its own. Even though it is very plunge-y, the cleavage it gives is more subtle and natural than the Deco (I prefer the Deco's very round, more projected shape). I'd say it runs true to size in the band if not a little small. At the time it fit, I had a 27.5", slightly squishy underbust, and I could fasten it, but I wore it most comfortably with an extender on the tightest hook; Unfortunately after weight fluctuation, it's just all wrong for me in size as well as shape now.
This is a very beautiful bra, and I would definitely recommend it. The fabric is a lot more comfortable and less stiff than Bravissimo's "Satine" which is it's sister style. I don't have knock-out cleavage in this bra, but as someone with bottom-heavy breasts cleavage is hard to come by! There is almost enough room in the bottom of the cup to accommodate my shape, which I find is rare. The 28H perfectly fits the shape of my bust, though for those with a top-heavy bust the top of the cup may dig in.
The only major downside is the back, which was on the tightest hooks straight away. I can still wear it on this setting without it riding up, but this of course dramatically reduces the life of this bra. I wish it was available in a 26HH, then it would be perfect.
I really had a hard time trying on this model in different sizes. I was so happy to find this halfcup style (as I cannot wear balconettes) with its beautiful details that I absolutely wanted to have it, but had to try on lots of sizes and ended up buying none of them. This one (28H) was good in the cups, but way too tight in the back. I believe it was tighter than the 28GG because the cups are wider and the part of the bra with stretchy fabric is comparatively smaller. The nice fitting in the cups was also a result of the very tight band, as the underwires and cups were torn apart and flattened.
Band length: 58.8cm Cup width: 15.8cm Cup depth: 29.5cm Wire length: 28.2cm Cup separation: 2.0cm Strap width: 1.9cm
Quality: 4/5 (something seems just a little "off" can't quite place what) Comfort: */5 (to be determined) Appearance: 4/5 (for natural shape worn all three ways)
I was merely curious about owning a multi-way bra. Why can't DD+ have this too? Bravissimo's review section seemed to overwhelmingly agree that the band ran very loose on this bra so I decided to down to a 28 band. This is my first try with Bravissimo's own brand and my hunch was my usual size may run about 30GG so cup compensation meant I ordered a 28H.
Shape is quite natural on me. ...In comparison to soft cups from Freya (bullet-boob pointy) and Cleo (well rounded for my shape) this bra falls somewhere in the middle. In both sets of regular straps it is relatively comfy but tight on the shoulders. I will play more with adjusting and wearing and update my review accordingly soon. Halters are usually only tolerable for a short while for me so I'm going to have to give it a try for a while and update here.
