Ugh, just as I finished writing the review I refreshed the page by mistake and it was all gone https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> So, starting again - this sports bra is similar to the Bravissimo Skye, my all time favorite sports bra. Strangely enough these wireless Bravissimo sports bras don't seem to be too popular here on Btb, which I can only attribute to them being underrated given the excellent bounce control and shape they give. The size is not right for me in this bra, so I can only judge how it behaves with trying it on, but not in the long run. About sizing, this ...runs large in the cups (same as the Skye) by about one cup size compared to my usual UK size. This is unlike the regular Bravissimo bras which are usually one cup small compared to my usual size. Regarding the size, as it's too large in the cup for me I get the usual symptom of a too large cup in a wireless bra, which is that the straps/cup digs into the arm - as there is too much fabric that would be "cup depth" but without wires it's not contained in the cup and is being pulled out by the band. About the shape, I get a rounded but minimised shape in this although it's not a perfect size match. The materials seem to be good quality and soft. The cups are made from two layers of material, the inner one non stretchy while the outer one stretchy. The band feels stable and I like that it has equal tension between the band material and the upper and lower elastics. The straps are wide and padded at the part where they sit on the shoulder, and they are positioned quite close to the neck (as it's usually the case with racerbacks), which I personally find very comfortable. People with narrow shoulders will also find this to be useful. The only downside that I see is that it's really hard to get the bra band fastened in the back. Since it's a racerback you can't fasten the band before putting the straps up on the shoulders, so it requires a bit of effort, especially as the band has 4 rows of hooks and eyes. The fact that the straps are partially adjustable (unlike the Skye) can be an advantage here, as they could be loosened a bit if needed. Read more 299 more words
I have a horrible habit of hitting the back button by mistake, so I feel your pain....
I like the look of this bra and personally really like wireless sports bras. They are wonderful for when you need a break from wires but still want support for the day.
It is good to know this runs large in the cup, so thank you for adding that info! I too experienced their regular bras to run small in the cup so I have avoided the brand, but will now look into this one for sure. Thank you again for the insightful review!
This is a new wireless sports bra from Bravissimo and I'm so happy I tried it, it looks great and gives me the least bounce of all sports bras I've tried so far! (When adding the model to Bratabase, I seem to have marked the bra by mistake as wired while it's wireless, and I can't change it now..)
Regarding the construction, this bra is a racerback, and so this makes it a bit more difficult to get it on and off, especially with the band having four hooks and eyes per row. The straps are padded and are very comfortable as they sit very high on the shoulders. ...The cups are made from one single layer of non stretch fabric. There is a triangle shaped mesh part connecting the "cups" which is stretchy. The fabric on the wing and band is also stretchy. On the inside of the cups, there is an internal sling which goes kind of where the wire would be - starting from the gore, under the cups and up the side of the cup. This helps to provide some separation despite the bra being wireless.
The materials feel soft and good quality. I've only tried the bra on so I don't know how they'll last with wear or during exercise. The fabric is also quite lightweight, although the bra provides excellent support. I'm looking forward to wearing this in summer, as it's significantly thinner than my Panache Sport.
Regarding sizing, the band fits true to size, but the cups are generous. Bravissimo bras usually fit small in the cups, so for the Alana or other full-cup bras I would wear one cup size up (36H) and get a similar fit. I would recommend to get your usual size in this bra or maybe even go down a cup. For me the cups are too roomy so I'll be going another size down.
Regarding the fit, this bra has the best bounce control I've had in a sports bra! And I've already tried the Panache Sport, Freya and Enell. The shape it gives is very minimised, not super lifted, but very round. I'd say it's mostly a compression bra, but with a bit of encapsulation due to the inner slings. For me, the overbust measurement wearing it is 6cm smaller than wearing the Alana or any of my usual bras. It doesn't give a uniboob and I could easily imagine wearing it with a swing or flowy top to get a more streamlined look.
I'm glad this bra is so promising for you, JulieCS! I've had my eye on Bravissimo's Skye. I like the racerback and number of hook and eye rows. Thanks for the review!
Thanks, learningaboutbras! Hope it fits you well if you decide to give it a try :)
This bra has very soft, silky fabric in the bottom half of the cup, and then non-stretch lace in the upper part. The band is firm; even though it is clearly labeled a 36GG, I had to pull very hard to get it to stretch 35 inches. The firmness and band width give it a very supportive feel though, so I like that. I have an even shape with average height roots, and the top of the cup almost cuts in on my larger breast, but not enough to notice. People who have full on bottom breasts would get along well with this bra. This bra definitely brings ...the breasts front and center, and gives a more natural look as opposed to a rounded look. I am high set and have troubles with bra wires being too long and poking me in the armpit, but this bra doesn't do that. The wires are firm enough to be supportive. I am someone who needs immediate depth at the wire, and this bra has that. I got this in the caramel color and look forward to wearing it under my light tops this summer. This is a great bra! Comfortable, just a bit stretchy in the band. Nice shape, not too pointy, not too round. Wires are nice and narrow and don't dig in. Doesn't lie completely flat.
