Love the contour cups for smoothing out headlights & uneven breast size & working under any clothing. Have worn Cacique balconettes for over a decade and found them to be very high quality and consistent in size. The cut of this one is different (smaller band) than the balconettes, so I needed to size up from my usual 34/36. The cup ran small. Very comfortable, great range of colors, washes beautifully. Would like more lift, but support is great for low center.
How would I search for this bra on the cacique site? I love it and want more! :) Any idea what they call it? Thanks for the help!
I think it's a pretty standard smoothing plunge t-shirt bra. I got mine on eBay, but Lane Bryant's website has a great selection of Cacique's current line-up.
Sides come up very high into armpit, makes my boobs push out towards my arms, very snug band, when I sit down it’s painful and leaves deep red marks that burn.
I have this bra in a 38DD with a different pattern and I like it a lot but the gore doesn't sit flat so I ordered the next cup size and I feel like the gore actually sits farther from my body, I learned how to do and swoop though so that probably accounts for it. I really like my first one so I will probably exchange this for the next size up
Probably my favorite bras. Unfortunately, they wear out and the band stretches out really fast. A bra only lasts me 2-3 months with regular wear. Since they are the most comfortable, I continue to buy them despite the poor quality. I like the mesh band, but once it stretches out, it rolls up into one tight little strip that digs in. It also makes my boobs look pretty great. It has minimal padding, but a nice shaped, molded cup and a cushioned underwire.
At my most recent trip to Lane Bryant, I picked up this bra thinking that it wouldn't fit because it is the same size as the t-shirt bras I had previously bought and weren't quite fitting anymore. It was the last bra of that style there, and was just hanging out on a random rack. My first impression? This bra is gorgeous. Fucking gorgeous. Luckily, the bra fit like a dream.
It is has a soft, half cup lining, with a black and gold overlay. Each cup has boning, and three bows along with a bow at the gore. Wearing this bra makes me feel sexy.
The gore is ...wider than any other bra that I own, and because my boobs are considered separate, the width really worked out for me. The gore lies flat against my chest and doesn't move. The only con is that I can't wear this bra under clothes. The boning and bows both show through clothing. This is a great piece, but definitely not for everyday wear.
Update 6/28/2013: It is blindingly obvious to me that this bra does not fit anymore, but it's so gosh darn pretty that I can't get rid of it. The wires are far too narrow, and I now get an odd quadboob within the bra, where the line and lace meet. Read more 114 more words
This was one of my first purchase from Lane Bryant when my re-weight gain 38DDs fell apart beyond being wearable or salvageable. It felt like an okay fit and was smooth under tshirts, but it was definitely not my actual size in hindsight and did nothing for my breasts. In the right size I'm sure it would suit someone very well.
The cup are smooth and don't show under clothes; even at several sizes too small I'm able to wear this bra without quad boob lines under a shirt. The band, as with all Cacique bras, stretched almost immediately with wear but then stayed steady at a bit looser ...than I would expect for a band with this size. Of all my bras from Lane Bryant that were not the right size for me, this one held up the best. It's probably still not worth what Lane Bryant charges for it - you can find way better quality with Freya , Panache , Fantasie and many others - but if you can find one used or on sale then it can be a solid staple. I've owned this bra in a couple of sizes and, even though the sizes were all too small for me even when I was wearing them regularly, they were pretty comfy! The underwires are padded quite a bit which makes it feel like your boobs are sitting on clouds.
I don't know really what breast shape this bra best suits, but I don't imagine that it would work all that well for someone who lacked upper fullness.
good lift and separation, LOW plunge is great for low cut shirts, removable padding, convertible straps. Wore this as I was "transitioning" to realizing my proper size.
While I don't have time to write a comprehensive review of this bra at the moment, I think the most important thing I want to talk about with this bra is that the center gore stretched out a lot with only a few days of wear on them-- and when the black cotton stretched, the color faded. I consider this bra unwearable, and it pretty much sits in my bra drawer untouched to this day.
When I first tried on this bra in September I was amazed with the fit. It was the first bra I ever tried on where the gore laid flat against my chest. The bra is a very soft full-coverage t-shirt bra.
However, after a few months I have realized some issues.
1) The gore no longer sits completely flat up against my chest all day. While the bottom of the gore does sit flat, the top begins to shift. 2) Throughout the day I have to keep swooping-and-scooping, to which I then quad-boob. 3) My breast does not sit fully at the bottom of the bra. Think 'orange-in-a-glass effect'.
While this bra is wearable, I am looking forward to saving money to buy another bra.
Most everything about this bra is good, except the straps are too short and won't adjust and lengthen anymore. The lace is very sexy, but also very wearable for everyday looks, Even though its a larger bra for bigger breasts, there are removable "air-like" pad inserts for that extra push-up.
This bra did stretch - not so good in the band but as the cups were a little too small, it doesn't poke very often. I think it would be a very good bra if I had it in the correct size.
I used to wear these as they were my most affordable and comfy options in the US. I lost some weight, and have lost a band size. I'll see if the 36 fits me these days.
Having the very same scenario is what led me on a bra crusade, which ultimately led me to bratabase. I wish I had found bratabase, other retailers, and other brands sooner!
Obviously as this post is over three years old (but for the sake of anyone who comes across it), you must have found your answer by now. You just fell off the bottom and top of Cacique's size chart. The largest cup they make in a 36 band is a DDD, and if you were a 38DDD, you're now a 36F (by their sizing), and that does not exist there.
And that brings up the fact that they have their own size chart that is not congruent with either the US size chart or the UK size chart. You know, because trying to bra shop with a new size on the internet isn't hard enough already.
