I have to sleep in a bra; I don't like having my chest going in different directions - doesn't work for me. I used to wear @Fruit of the Loom basic sports bras but they were too hot (uniboob cleavage sweats!) and they kept shrinking. Then I found Carole Martin's and I was sold! Apparently these have been around since the 1970's. The straps do not adjust and are a little long for me; that's my only complaint. There is soft elastic in the straps. It has a front hook closure with five hooks. This gore does not lay flat - at least on me. The band has ... thicker elastic than the straps and does not adjust. This elastic is firmer, yet still comfortable. The band is covered with a strip of soft, non-scratchy, lace that curls up with wear (a nice attempt to make it pretty but they should have attached it fully so it wouldn't curl - not a big deal and doesn't affect comfort). This bra is super comfortable - 95% cotton, 5% spandex. Machine wash, line dry. I got very little shrinkage with the first wash, but it was slight enough to mention. If you're looking for good support for day-wear, don't get this. It basically holds the breasts separate and keeps them in place, but there's no lift and no underwire. I measure at 30GG and the 38 is very comfortable. This also comes in a 2nd style: a nylon, spandex blend. This other style has darts that hit me in the wrong place and looked weird. The cotton version has no darts in the cups. I also found the nylon version to be extremely hot. I prefer the thinner cotton for sleeping. They also claim to be good for post-surgery.
